Santa Dulce Prayer for protection and obtaining graces

A prayer of Santa Dulce asks for protection, graces and renewal of faith. The Bahian nun Maria Rita Lopes Pontes (1914-1992) is celebrated on October 13, when she was canonized by Pope Francis in 2019, becoming the first Brazilian saint. Previously known as Sister Dulce, she had two miracles recognized by the Catholic Church and came to be called Saint Dulce of the Poor.

Novena for the intercession of Saint Dulce of the poor

The recommendation is that the novena begins on the 13th and continues until the 21st. The initial prayer must be repeated daily and, subsequently, it is time for the suggested reading and prayer for each of the nine days.

Opening prayer: O Lord Jesus, present in the Blessed Sacrament, I come through this novena and adoration, following the example of sister Dulce, the good angel of Brazil, who spent nights and nights in your presence, to intercede and pray for those most in need of both material goods and of spiritual goods. 3rd day: Blessed Dulce, woman dedicated to prayer. Word of God: Mt. 7,1-12. Silence to internalize the word.

Let us pray: Lord, give us the grace that through prayer life and intimacy with you, experiencing your love and listening to your Will, through meditation on your Word, we can learn to love and serve you and our brothers with our life, transmitting what he gives us through prayer. 4th day: Blessed Dulce, Eucharistic woman. Word of God: John 6, 30-40. Silence to internalize the word.

Let us pray: O Lord, instill in our soul the desire to constantly seek to nourish our lives with the love of Christ, offered in the Eucharist, so that, following the example of Blessed Dulce, we can, strengthened by your love, love our brother without limits to the point of we give our lives for his salvation. Make sure that we, following in the footsteps of the blessed Dulce through full trust in your love, can overcome life’s difficulties with serenity, not letting despair take over our hearts. Amen. 9th day: Sister Dulce, a life totally consecrated to God Word of God: Fl. 1, 18b-26. Silence to internalize the word.
