Who is Saint Isidore?
O Saint Isidore of Seville, celebrated on April 4th, is doctor of the church and patron saint of the Internet. He was born in Cartagena, Spain, in the year 560, and died in 636. He left a vast literary work, including “Etymologies”, an encyclopedia with 20 books that was also very popular in the Renaissance period.
There is also the Saint Isidore Lavrador, whose liturgical feast is on May 15th. He was born and died in Madrid (1070 – 1130), also in Spain, leading a simple life as a peasant. He is considered the patron saint of rural workers, the unemployed, indigenous people and also the city of Madrid.
