Russian current: procedure that promises to reduce cellulite, fat and sagging

The Russian current is an aesthetic procedure aimed at improving the skin and musculature, widely used in the search for the ideal body, as a complement to good nutrition and exercise.

The abdominal region is the most sought after, but the Russian current can also be applied to the thighs, buttocks, among others, always under the supervision of a specialized professional. In athletes, it is also used to improve circulation and relax after heavy training.

The specialist in aesthetic medicine Julio Nogueira, from W Spa, explains that the method uses an electrical stimulus to cause muscle contraction in the place where it is applied, moving the region and intensifying toning and definition.

This method can also be called electrostimulation, electrotherapy or electric current, but it became popularly known as Russian current because it was a technique developed in Russia in the 1980s.

What are the functions of this procedure?

The professional explains that the Russian current guarantees satisfactory results, especially in some points, such as:

  • Fighting sagging;
  • Reduction of cellulite and localized fat;
  • Strengthening muscle tone;
  • Improved blood and lymph flow.

All this happens through computerized electrostimulation, when the medium frequency device reaches the muscle fibers, generating the aforementioned benefits.

How does Russian current work?

The device is composed of several electrodes, which must be placed in the region to be treated as a kind of elastic strap. “The electrical current that is used is asymmetrical and of low frequency, with low voltage and small to medium intensity”, says the specialist in aesthetic medicine.

Each session can last up to one hour, with the electrical stimulus applied for 15 seconds, followed by a one-minute break, with a recommended time at the end of the treatment of 10 minutes of electrical stimulation per session.
