Romero Bastos is a 54-year-old man from Pernambuco, who lives in Campo Grande (MS). For some time, Romero and his wife, Rose, have been producing videos that have gained a huge following on social media due to their slapstick style.

Like so many other successful cases on the Internet, he started producing videos at home, with his cell phone, in 2016. With a line that is somewhat reminiscent of classics like “The Three Stooges”, he soon became famous.

The tone of the videos revolves around a couple with a wife who is a ‘hard line’ and a husband who tries in every way to overcome this rigidity and be able to ‘escape’ with friends for a fishing trip. But he never succeeds and in the end he ends up being beaten with brooms.

Still stunned by his sudden fame (his channel, Simply Romero Bastos, has around 200,000 followers), he already had to leave his job at a restaurant because of the large volume of professional invitations. The couple already has nearly 30 million views of their videos.

Romero defines his success precisely by making an innocent humor, without sensuality and focusing on what the comedian himself defines as “thereverse of sexist and a familiar humour.
