Researchers reveal how lucky people are different from others

Many people use simple bad luck to explain their failures. On the other side are the lucky ones, who are no better than anyone else, but seem to have been born with their butt facing the moon. However, researchers do not agree with the idea that luck is random: these professionals claim that a positive destiny largely depends on aspects carried by the person himself.

O awesome.club selected some irrefutable proofs that it is entirely possible to attract good luck.

After several experiments, researchers have determined what sets lucky people apart from everyone else.

According to studies, people who exude good luck:

1. Know how to recognize opportunities

Professor of psychology at the University of Hertfodshire (UK) Richard Wiseman gathered 400 people who considered themselves very lucky or very unlucky and carried out a study for 10 years. The research results were published in the book “The Luck Factor”, in free translation (The Luck Factor). Wiseman says that there are no chronically “lucky” or “unlucky”, only a few people who know better how to perceive opportunities and take advantage of them.

The professor devised an experiment: he asked the study participants to count pictures in a newspaper. Those who considered themselves unlucky spent 2 minutes on the task, while the “lucky ones” took just a few seconds. It turns out that the second page of the paper carried a large ad, which read: “Stop counting: there are 43 pictures here.” Unlike the “unlucky”, they saw the ad right away.

2. See even unpleasant facts as a sign of luck

Wiseman asked all participants the following question: “If you were in a bank during a robbery and the criminal shot you in the arm, would you take it as a sign of luck or bad luck?” “Unlucky,” replied those who are never lucky. “Of course it’s a sign of luck, because the shot could have hit the head!”, replied the lucky ones.

You can also test yourself by answering the question: “How would you classify a person who has been on the brink of death 7 times, but survived? Is he someone lucky or, on the contrary, a person who is always immersed in problems?”. That person really exists. It is the Serbian music teacher Frane Selak. Obviously, he is considered the luckiest person in the world. Frane survived a train accident, several automobile collisions, and was on a plane that crashed. The first time he bought a lottery ticket, he won £600,000. Is the guy lucky or not?

Problems happen to everyone, but those who see them as positive experiences end up maintaining an optimistic attitude towards life, without fear of looking to the future.

So, don’t get caught up in your failures. It is better to ask yourself: how to take advantage of this situation? What did she teach me? What can I do to turn it in my favor?

3. Believe in their own luck

Richard Wiseman believes that luck should be seen as a personality trait that can be developed. Just believe that everything will turn out well, make decisions according to your own intuition and don’t obsess over doubts.

The efficiency of such behaviors is proven by Maia Young, from the University of California. She found that those students who believe in luck take on difficult tasks more often, achieving better results than those who consider themselves unlucky.

4. Always try something new

Richard Wiseman invites people to declare war on routine, seeking to have new experiences all the time:

Break the daily itinerary more often, do everyday tasks differently, and do new things whenever possible. change the social circle.

For example: Wiseman created a task for the students: in order not to talk, during a party or conference, only with people you already know, you need to approach and introduce yourself to everyone wearing some garment of a certain color.

Psychology professor Philippe Gabillet also considers that the more acquaintances we have, the greater the chances of being lucky. You just need to be considerate and generous with people to receive the same in return.

5. Wear amulets

In 2010, researchers at the University of Cologne, Germany, promoted a study inviting students to put a ball into a hole. The participants were divided into 2 groups: the first received the “happy” ball, which, according to the teachers, had been the winner on several occasions. The second group won a common ball. The average result of the first group was 36% higher than that of the second.

In another experiment, students were asked to take their amulets and then take them off so they could be photographed. After that, the participants had to submit to a test of cunning. At the same time, half of the students received the amulets back, while the other did not: the researchers claimed that they would have to finish the test before returning the objects. Again, the students in the first group (who received the amulets) had better results.

Thus, scholars have proven that amulets really help to achieve goals: they increase self-confidence, reduce tension and make people feel in control of the situation, giving themselves to the task with greater concentration. It may just be a placebo effect, but it works.

6. Seek support from others

In another experiment, students needed to solve a children’s game as quickly as possible: place 36 marbles in 36 small holes. The group that received support (the instructor kept encouraging the participants with phrases like “I’m with you, we’ll make it!”) finished the task faster than the people who performed it silently.

In other words: be surrounded by people who, instead of complaining about life, know how to offer support, feel lucky, are willing to exchange positive thoughts and energies. After all, we are the ones around us.

Luck is a state of our consciousness. When we face life not as a difficult test, but as an adventure, considering difficulties as a challenge and taking pleasure in the search for solutions, success will eventually come. Opportunities are like doors. Knock and they will open.
