Remember the greatest hits in theaters by Xuxa, the eternal queen of the little ones

Since the beginning of her career, our queen has already ventured onto the big screen in Brazil. First in the cast of the humorous troupe Os Trapalhão and later starring in his own feature films.

We, from awesome.club, we dive into nostalgia to bring very interesting information about some of these films that were an important part of Xuxa Meneghel’s career.

11. Super Xuxa Contra o Baixo Astral (1988)

This film was the first feature film with the presenter in the lead role. Her eternal look, with shoulder pads, X-shaped earrings, printed shirt and white boots was made by Xuxa’s own mother and inspired by another “royalty”, the international king of pop, Michael Jackson.

Because of a very expensive production, a lot of merchandising was needed to fund the project. More than 10 brands appear very casually throughout the story.

In the year of its release, the film received excellent response from the public. Only in the first week of exhibition, he was the third most watched in movie theaters across the country.

10. crystal moon (nineteen ninety)

The movie would be called Xuxa and the Invincible Gang, but when the theme song was ready and Xuxa listened to it, she fell in love and thought it had everything to do with her story and with the film. Then the title was changed to crystal moon🇧🇷 But in the chorus it is still sung: “we are invincible, believe me…”

There was a charity movement called “Donate to those who hurt” on the day of the film’s premiere. Spectators could pay for their tickets with a donation of one kilogram of non-perishable food. They managed to collect 450 tons of food.

9. Xuxa Requebra (1999)

The film is a romantic comedy in which Xuxa is paired with singer Daniel. It was shown in theaters over the holidays and broke the attendance record for films that year, with approximately 2,100,000 viewers.

The film’s soundtrack was created by artists who were very successful at the time, such as Vinny, Tiazinha, Fat Family, Terra Samba and, of course, Daniel. By the way, he was chosen to play the role of “Felipe” in the film, after a public survey. Names like Alexandre Pires were even considered for the role, but in the end, the choice was made by the singer Daniel.

8. Xuxa Popstar (2000)

The previous film, Xuxa Requebra, it was a film for the teenage audience. So, for her next project, Xuxa planned to do something for the kids. She wanted the participation of the duo Sandy & Junior, but Globo Filmes vetoed the idea, as there were already plans to release a film with the brothers as protagonists. After the cancellation, Xuxa talked to her team and they decided to make another film aimed at a teenage audience, filled with bands and national songs that were on the rise at the time, and which became the Xuxa Popstar🇧🇷

According to Xuxa, part of the film’s story was inspired by a fact that happened to herself, when she spent three months in the United States, at the beginning of her modeling career. She wanted to show the yearnings and anguishes of a girl who, due to her profession, needs to stay away from everyone she loves (parents, family and friends); and also talk about the glamorization of the profession and career difficulties.

7. Xuxa and the Duendes (2001)

The film was conceived and designed to follow a trend in the cinematographic market at the time: to tell a fantastic story, mixing things from the real world with those from the magical world. But, in addition, Xuxa also wanted to do a job in which well-known stories could be retold for children.

In the film’s original script, Gugu would play a romantic couple with Xuxa, but ended up playing a villain and the character “Rico”. The movie would just be called Leprechaunsbut, as the name of Xuxa has always had great weight in the market, it was renamed for the launch.

In a report to the program High hours, Xuxa said that an elf actually visited her on her farm. The little one was holding the quilt of her bed and ended up giving the actress a big scare when he pulled her.

6. Xuxa and the Duendes 2: On the Path of the Fairies (2002)

In the film that followed the title Xuxa and the Duendes, the queen of the little ones made a romantic pair with her ex-boyfriend, Luciano Szafir. The story of the film brings a simple fable, but with a focus on diversity. The story of a fairy who falls in love with an ordinary man shows children that every difference between people and beings actually makes no difference.

The cast featured big names, such as Vera Fischer, Zezé Motta, Betty Lago, Thiago Fragoso, Susana Vieira and Deborah Secco. By the way, in the last scene of the film, a witch played by Susana Vieira appears saying that the story does not end like that and then starts laughing, making it seem that the story would continue in a possible way. Xuxa and the Duendes 3but we haven’t heard from that since.

5. Xuxa Abracadabra (2003)

The film was developed based on an old desire of Xuxa, which was to produce a film with language completely aimed at children. She always wanted to combine fairy tales and folklore in a light and fun way. The idea was to bring together, in a single script, several characters from children’s stories.

With a more comic bias, the film featured actors such as Márcio Garcia, Cláudia Raia, Maria Mariana Azevedo, Heloisa Périssé, Leandro Hassum, Lúcio Mauro Filho, Sérgio Mamberti, among others. The box office was also a success: more than 2.2 million people attended the movie theaters to honor the title.

4. Xuxa and the Treasure of the Lost City (2004)

Moacyr Góes, the film’s director, says he developed the script based on various influences, such as the films Raiders of the Lost Ark and Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Goldand even the Shakespearean play A Midsummer Night’s Dream🇧🇷 The film also contains references to Scandinavian and Inca mythologies and our Brazilian folklore.

A fun question about the film: Xuxa was a romantic partner with actor Marcos Pasquim (character “Igor”) and reported that doing the kissing scene with Pasquim was more or less like kissing an ashtray (referring to the fact that the actor was a smoker at time of filming). But nothing a handful of mints couldn’t fix, right?

3. Xuxa Gêmeas (2006)

At the time of the pre-production of the film, the program domingão Faustão launched and broadcast the contest that was looking for a Xuxa look-alike. Such a contest would choose a lookalike of the artist to work with her in the film, especially in the scenes in which the sisters faced each other. Candidates were between 18 and 35 years old. The final of the contest was on August 27, 2006 and the winner was the carioca Isabele Fintelman who confessed to having fulfilled a big dream: to meet Xuxa in person. How cool is that, right?

Although the film was released in 2006, Xuxa confesses that she started working on his script in 1989. She imagined that her recordings would be in Mexico and that it would be released in Latin America. As at the time it was not possible to do things the way the Rainha dos Baixinhos wanted, she returned to the idea in 2006.

Another curiosity is that scenes from the film were shot at Circo de Beto Carrero World — and the Brazilian cowboy himself participated in the recordings.

two. Xuxa in Sonho de Menina (2007)

This is the first film starring Xuxa produced by Conspiração Filmes and it is an adventure script that talks about a teacher from the countryside who wants to fulfill her dream of being an actress in the big city. Due to a series of misunderstandings and confusion, Kika (Xuxa) finds herself lost and receives help from a mysterious lady. She gives him an apple cake which causes Kika to turn back into a child. You can already imagine the confusion, right?

In the story, actor Carlos Casagrande makes a romantic couple with the Queen of the Little People. The child actress Letícia Botelho plays the role of Kikinha (the child version of Kika). The story of the film is a kind of continuation of the film crystal moon and follows the message that everyone can make their dreams come true and, in this film, Xuxa wanted to pass on a new message to children: Want, power and achieve!

1. Xuxa in The Mystery of Feiurinha (2009)

In that film, Xuxa appeared again with her ex-boyfriend Luciano Szafir, and with her daughter Sasha Meneghel, in addition to a strong cast that included Angélica, Luciano Huck, Hebe Camargo, Daniele Valente and Bernardo Mesquita.

The story tells of comic book characters who, as adults, unite to rescue the fable of Feiurinha — who, despite that somewhat strange name, was a beautiful princess. There is talk of “rescuing” because, according to the script, the fable of Feiurinha had been forgotten by children and adults.

The film’s story was written by Pedro Bandeira and based on a work by Monteiro Lobato, in which people from the enchanted world come to live in the real world. And it was Pedro Bandeira himself who insisted with Xuxa that her daughter, Sasha Meneghel, participate in the feature film. Her choice, by the way, was very correct.

And since then we haven’t had any more movies exclusively with our queen. She even participated in another film in 2016 in which she played herself, but so far we have no news of new projects. A shame, isn’t it?!

Now we want to hear from you. Which of these movies did you like best? Who were you with when you watched it? Which one would you like to revisit or watch a sequel? Tell us in the comments section.
