Prayer to San Amaro Protector of Those Suffering from Bone Problems

Especially celebrated by the Catholic Church on January 15, it invokes Santo Amaro for the special protection and healing of bone problems. It is also the patron saint of carriers and provides protection against headaches, rheumatism, flu and hoarseness.

History of San Amaro

It tells the life story of Saint Amaro that the son of a Roman senator who, when the boy was still 12 years old, entrusted Saint Benedict (here they know the history of Saint Benedict) in the year 522 AD. Amaro was brought up in the Benedictine order, and for this reason he is often depicted holding the Rule of Saint Benedict in his arm.

Among the miracles that made him consecrate a saint, it is said that one day his companion, also a monk, was drowning in the lake, and that Saint Benedict asked Amaro to save him. Later, the legend says that Amaro walked on the waters and brought back the companion, safe and sound. Santo Amaro attributed the miracle to the prayers of Saint Benedict, but considered that the miracle was only possible due to Amaro’s obedience as his disciple.

Santo Amaro is also sometimes represented with a crutch, because great miracles are attributed to him in the cure of pain and bone problems.
