He is celebrated on January 28th and is considered the patron saint of students, university students and teachers. It is believed that the prayer of Saint Thomas Aquinas can promote spiritual cleansing, strengthen faith, attract blessings and open the mind to wisdom. It can be done whenever you feel like it, on any day and time of the week, always with gratitude.

How to pray for wisdom?

The recommendation is to find a quiet place where you will not be interrupted. It is worth preparing it with a candle and/or incense, which can help with the connection. Sit comfortably and try to relax by taking deep, conscious breaths. When your mind and body are calm, read the prayer of Saint Thomas Aquinas with faith in what you can achieve and be grateful at the end.

O eternal and almighty God, behold, I approach the sacrament of your only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Unclean, I come to the source of mercy; blind, in the light of eternal clarity; poor and destitute, to the Lord of heaven and earth.

I beg you to deign to heal my weakness, wash my stains, illuminate my blindness, enrich my poverty and clothe my nakedness.

May I receive the bread of the Angels, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, with respect and humility, with contrition and devotion, purity and faith, the purpose and intention that befits the salvation of my soul .

Grant me to receive not only the sacrament of the Body and Blood of the Lord, but also its effect and its strength.

O God of meekness, grant me to welcome with such dispositions the Body that your only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, received from the Virgin Mary, may it be incorporated into her mystical body and counted among its members.

O Father full of love, grant that, now receiving your Son under the veil of the sacrament, I may in eternity contemplate him face to face. He, who lives and reigns with you forever. Amen.

Prayer of Saint Thomas Aquinas wisdom

“Grant me, O omnipotent and merciful God, to ardently desire, prudently discover, truly know and perfectly accomplish whatever pleases you.

For the praise and glory of your name, order my state of life and give me to know, power and want what you ask me to do. And grant me to carry it out as is convenient for the salvation of my soul.

May my path to you be straight and safe. May I not succumb in prosperity or in adversity, lest I become arrogant in the first nor despair in the second. May I give you thanks in fortune and in difficulty keep patience. May I not be happy or saddened by anything except what leads me to you or takes me away from you. Let no one wish to please nor fear annoying anyone except yourself.

Give me everything to do with charity and what does not concern your worship, consider it as dead. Give me to practice my actions, not out of custom, but referring them to you with devotion.

That for your sake I do not value transitory things, and that everything that concerns you is dear to me. I am pleased, more than anything, with any work that is for you and I am annoyed by any rest that is not in you.

Grant me, sweet Lord, to direct my heart to You frequently and fervently and, with a contrite soul, to amend my weakness with firm purpose.

Make me, O God, humble without pretense; cheerful without dissipation; severe without depression; mature without severity; vivacious without levity; truthful without duplicity; fearful without despair; confident without presumption; chaste without corruption; correct others without indignation and build them up by example and word without exaggeration; obedient without contradiction; patient without murmuring.

Give me, most sweet Jesus, an awakened heart, so that no vain curiosity takes it away from You; immovable, so that he does not give in to any unworthy affection; indefatigable, so that he does not succumb in any tribulation; free, so that no violent pleasure takes hold of him; and upright, so that no evil intention causes him to deviate.

Grant me, most sweet God, the intelligence to know you; diligence to seek you; wisdom to find you; kindness to please you; perseverance to wait for you sweetly and faithfully; confidence to reach you happily. Make me, through penance, bear your pains; utilize your benefits in this life by grace; and finally, in the eternal homeland, enjoy your joys of glory.

You, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit live and reign forever and ever. Amen.”

My God, sow in me the seed of your goodness.

Make me poor without being miserable, humble without pretense, cheerful without superficiality, sincere without hypocrisy;
who does good without presumption, who corrects others without arrogance, who admits his correction without pride;
May my word and my life be coherent.

Grant me, Truth of truths, intelligence to know You, diligence to seek You, wisdom to find You, good conduct to please You, confidence to wait in You, constancy to do Your will.

Guide, my God, my life; grant me to know what you ask of me and help me to accomplish it for my own good and that of all my brothers. Amen.”
