The admiration. That almost irresistible force that makes us feel a special consideration towards something or someone whom, sometimes, we don’t even know. When we admire someone we feel a mixture of attraction and devotion. Admiration leads to perplexity, to the recognition of qualities that we can even magnify.

Different ways to admire someone

This feeling is not always directed in the same direction, that is, admiring a teacher, for example, is not the same as admiring a movie star. There are those who see in admiration a kind of hidden envy, a spontaneous attempt to find a reflection in ourselves of what we like about those other people.

When we feel admiration for someone we know and who is part of our life, that feeling can also be an act of recognition for the support you give us or for what you have taught us. When we admire a stranger

When admiring someone we don’t know, We usually attribute a series of qualities to it that do not always correspond to reality. Qualities that on many occasions we even magnify.

In this sense, we can come to admire a movie star for their popularity or for the life we imagine they lead. There are those who also think that falling in love also brings a dose of admiration towards the other person.

But there are also people who awaken this feeling in us because of the values they represent. and that we recognize as positive. For example, Ghandi or Nelson Mandela are an example of how with their struggle and perseverance they have achieved peaceful transformations in the world, something that has meant the admiration of millions of people over time.

The mystery that surrounds nature can also cause perplexity in us. A sunset, an astronomical phenomenon or a beautiful landscape can stimulate our senses and awaken our wonder. Aristotle already warned that philosophy was born from admiration, from the fact that man realized that reality has meaning and rationality.
