Mom celebrates her 15th birthday party at 45, demonstrating that it’s never too late to make a dream come true

Lorena del Carmen Navarro has always dreamed of celebrating her 15th birthday, a tradition rooted in Latin America that demonstrates that a girl has reached maturity. The celebration, which involves wearing a beautiful dress and receiving guests in a ballroom, could not be held at the time, as Lorena’s family did not have enough financial resources to organize the event. However, she continued to dream of this moment, and 3 decades later, she was able to fulfill her wish.

Lorena’s story was released on her Twitter account. son elder, Saúl Ramírez Navarro, who shared photos and videos of the long-awaited celebration. The publication says: “My mother didn’t have a party like this when she was 15, so she celebrated at 45. Look how happy she is”, and immediately captivated thousands of people, who started sharing the images and made the publication go viral. There were around 93,000 likes and 17,000 retweets.

The woman tried to celebrate that same event when she turned 30, but she was pregnant, which made things difficult. But at the age of 45, there were no more obstacles to throw a traditional 15th birthday party: with a dress, tiara and waltz in a beautiful ballroom. Several friends and family participated, but at first they were confused by the idea. “Some people just didn’t get it, but when they got to the salon, it all made sense,” Lorena said in an interview.

Saúl, the son, is a singer and took the opportunity to bring his guitar and dedicate a few songs to his mother. In addition, she was given a present, as is the case with 15-year-old girls, but instead of receiving the “last doll” (which indicates the passage from childhood to youth), her children gave her a walker, everything Just kidding. “Seeing my mother happy was the best feeling,” said Saúl.

Óscar Ramírez, Lorena’s husband, accompanied her to the event. Together they danced several times, including the song Perfect, by Ed Sheeran. The “debutante” stated that his story received a lot of attention, clarifying that, although he should have celebrated when he was 15, it was good to do it years later.

Thanks to Saúl’s publication, many people identified themselves and said that they would like to do the same with their own mothers — and, of course, many mothers are already thinking about having their own belated coming out parties. It is definitely an interesting way to fulfill a dream that, for different reasons, was set aside along the way.
