Meet Fabrício Carpinejar, the poet who talks about family life

With more than 20 books published, in addition to being part of the program Meeting with Fátima Bernardes, from Rede Globo, Fabrício Carpinejar has an Instagram full of napkins with small written sentences that deeply touch the hearts of his readers. But those who see him today often don’t know that his journey wasn’t easy.

Today the incredible.club brings a little of the inspiring story of this poet and journalist, who overcame difficulties and is now recognized for his talent!

Born in Caxias do Sul, in 1972, as Fabrício Carpi Nejar, as a boy he faced bullying from his classmates for his “different” appearance: he was called by several nicknames, such as Cavalinho de pau, Cara de bat, Placenta, Panqueca — all because of to be considered ugly in the eyes of school children. Also, to make matters worse, he had to wear uncomfortable orthopedic boots, as he was born with flat feet. In one of his books, Puppy of Cruz Credowhere he tells a little about his childhood, he says: “Today I think I’m pretty in my own way, pretty ugly”.

In addition to bullying, even when he was small he was diagnosed with delayed cognitive and motor skills, as he had difficulties expressing himself and learning. The verdict was clear: he needed to undergo treatments, take medication and should stop going to school. But that didn’t get him down.

With the help of his mother, Maria Carpi, the then future poet was able to overcome all the gloomy expectations, put the medical diagnosis aside and become the best version of himself. She did not allow her son to take medicine, kept him in school, helped him to perfect his diction and managed to transform, as he himself says, “his stubbornness into hope”. In her free time, Maria created games and games to help her son improve.

Fabrício is currently married to lawyer Beatriz Reys. He claims that she is his great inspiration for many texts and poetry. Not long ago, he made a publication that became controversial about “having the cell phone password” of his beloved.

The writer has already published 43 books, including children’s and youth, poetry, chronicles and reports. He received more than 20 literary awards, including Jabuti, considered the most traditional in Brazil; the Marengo D’Oro, in Italy; and National Olavo Bilac (poetry), from the Brazilian Academy of Letters, in addition to an Honorable Mention at Alceu Amoroso Lima.

Recently, his book “Take care of parents before it’s too late” was elected highlight of the year by Livraria Saraiva and ranked first in the National Literature category, with 27.3% of the votes. The work, as the title already shows, tells a little about how the author sees the parents and their regrets and discoveries over the years in relation to their parents and the role of the child in the family.

Fabrício’s story seems to have been taken from a novel with a happy ending. Overcoming and persistence are words present in the biography of this poet who did not give up under any circumstances and always sought his best. In addition to inspiring people through his career, his poems written on napkins touch the hearts of his fans.
