Learn to value what you have, before it’s too late

Let’s reflect on the importance of valuing and being grateful for the small gifts that life gives us daily.

Appreciating what you have is not easy in a world where it seems like you always have to look for more.. The majority is focused in everything it does not have: material things, interpersonal relationships, even ideal beauty…

We expect great things and are fascinated by miracles, but we forget that our lives already offer us small gifts that others would desire. I think there are more people worried about counting all the things they are missing than about savoring what life gives them. And you?, Have you learned to value what you have or are you waiting for moments and ideals?

Discover the treasures of your life

What things do you pay attention to in your life? Many concentrate and long for material objects that seem shiny from a distance but once they have them they do not contribute anything.

Appreciating what you have means learning to see those small moments that you couldn’t buy with a diamond. I am sure that if you pay a little attention you will discover many of these treasures. The most basic ones for me are:

A home where you can sleep every nightFoodHealthClothesFriends, love and family

It may seem to you that they are basic things and that there is nothing to value in them. Think again: how many people are there in the world who don’t have all of this? Appreciating what you have is not just being grateful that you have material things…

Valuing what you have means being grateful for the moments and memories that are born around your existence. : the dinner with friends that you will remember when you are old or the bowl of oatmeal that reminds you of a happy moment from your childhood…

Appreciating what you have requires effort

When was the last time you stopped and consciously gave thanks for what you have? Just as you take your time every day to shower and brush your teeth, You must take a moment to value what you have.

Think about all the things you have achieved, what you have and who is around you. Even the most difficult or unpleasant day will improve when you learn to be grateful. The common thing is to think about what we need and what we want, but if you learn to take this step every day you will attract gratitude into your life.

If you have the opportunity and feel like doing it, write down all the things you have to be grateful for. So, the day you feel sad or depressed you can review that list and assess what you have. This makes carrying on through the gray days easier.

Take away value from unimportant things

I’m surprised how Some people complain all the time about trivial things.. They make a drama about having to wait in line at the bank and get angry when they miss the bus. Let’s be honest, Sometimes we forget to value what we have by focusing on unimportant circumstances.

They are situations that seem more serious because of the time you allocate to them in your mind, than because of the real results.. Giving so much attention to these experiences takes you away from what is important. Have you thought that getting angry about having to wait 20 minutes in line at the bank gives you the opportunity to spend that time with your child?

Changing your mindset and seeing things from another perspective makes life more bearable. Of course, no one likes to be late for work because they missed the bus, but I’m sure you can get something good out of it. The difference lies in how willing you are to see the positive in each circumstance instead of the negative.

What if you didn’t have your life?

It is common to hear that we only value what we have when we have lost it. It sounds very easy to understand, doesn’t it? What would happen if you really lost everything you had? For a moment close your eyes and imagine that your entire life changes completely. Suddenly you are left homeless, it is impossible to get food and you have no one in your life.

It is undoubtedly a discouraging panorama, but remember that there are many people in the world who live under these circumstances. Appreciating what you have is not something superfluous. In reality it is a revolutionary act in the very materialistic world in which we live. but just It is this way of seeing life that can help you be happier.
