Hyrox: everything you need to know about the sport of the moment –

When the crossfit became a trend many years ago, the biggest appeal of physical practice, in addition to energy expenditure, was the competitive pace: despite being a group activity, the idea is that each participant challenges himself by completing the exercises in the proposed time . Enter the Hyroxa new modality that has become a worldwide sensation and promises to take this idea to new heights.

WHAT IS HYROX?

Hyrox is a fitness competition global. Like Crossfit, participants or fans get the same workout no matter where they are in the world, and the events are open to all types of people, not just professional athletes.

This happens because this practice is less technical, but quite intense: the Hyrox consists of 8 kilometers of race interspersed with functional exercises: burpees and rows, in addition to throwing sandbags, are some of the activities that are part of the run.

The event is, today, considered the biggest indoor fitness event in the world – competitions take place in large stadiums, imitating arenas – and can be enjoyed in 4 ways:

Open: The Traditional Hyrox Experience
Pro: for the more experienced, with bigger weights and more complex exercises
Pairs: participants can do the circuit in pairs, running side by side, but sharing the exercise load
Relay (or “revezamento”, in Portuguese): go with your friends or family and do the circuit taking turns – each member of the team does 2 kilometers of running and two exercises

The complete circuit can take from 60 to 120 minutes, and the most important thing is, in fact, the participation – as this is an event that embraces people of all kinds and with the most varied types of experience, it is common that each one takes O own pace to complete the test.

HYROX OR CROSSFIT?

The first point that differentiates Hyrox from Crossfit is the type of competition. In the first case, it is open to everyone. In the second, the events of crossfit are usually reserved for elite or professional athletes.

Other than that, another big difference between the two modalities is that Crossfit demands precision and technique – the movements need to be well done, strictly following the original technique and the number of repetitions, mainly to avoid injuries.

On the other hand, the creators of Hyrox – the event planner Christian ToetzkeOlympic medalist Moritz Fuerste and marketing expert Michael Trautmann – thought of a competition with the lowest risk of injury possible.

But make no mistake! Despite being a competition open to everyone, the event calls for heavy preparation, with training that works on strength and resistanceso that the circuit is complete.
