How to Survive a Shooting or a Terrorist Attack

It is common to believe that we will never face big problems. However, difficult moments do not ask us whether or not we want to face them. They just suddenly appear like thunder. No one can guess if and when you will be in a dangerous situation, but there are tips that can help you stay safe if, for example, you are in an area where there is a shooting.

You may have heard that ignorance is bliss, but the saying doesn’t apply to these situations. Unfortunately, mass shootings and terrorist attacks now happen more often than we would like.

O awesome.club highlights some important points about how to react to a terrorist attack or a sniper. Check it out and share with your friends, as you may not be 100% prepared for life-threatening situations.

Watch

Unfortunately, snipers often aim for public places, especially at certain events. This brings us to the first step. When arriving at a party or a place with a lot of people, take a few minutes to check where the exits are. This is a good habit, as it can help you not only escape an attack, but also a fire, earthquake, or any other situation you want to get out of.

Realize it’s real

If it sounds like a gunshot or an attack, that’s probably really what’s going on. And always better to stay safe than to regret it later. You may even find out later that it was all a joke, but it’s better to laugh later than suffer for being relaxed.

Run

hide

If you can’t escape, find shelter. Hide and make a barrier using whatever heavy object is nearby🇧🇷 The harder it is for the intruder to get into the place where you are, the better. Most of the time, the attacker only has a few minutes before the police show up, so you need to stop him until then.

find a barrier

Forget about all the 007 type movies. Things like a chair, a door or a car cannot stop a bullet🇧🇷 the walls of concrete or brick are always better options when available, of course. Turn off any electronic devices that may make noise.

Call emergency services

It may seem surprising, but statistics say it takes people on average about 10 minutes to call emergency services. Use a landline if possible as it can be traced more quickly. Keep calm and give clear details. Follow the police instructions to the letter. The telephone number of the Brazilian Police, you must know by heart, is 190.

Find something to defend yourself with

It can be absolutely anything: scissors, an umbrella, a broom or even a hot cup of coffee. If there are other people around, work as a team. Someone must call 911, others block the entrance, and someone else must start looking for something that could be used as a weapon.

fight

Help but don’t play the hero

If someone is disoriented or too scared to act, help if possible. Hold that person when they start running, reassure them, and make them more cooperative. But don’t sacrifice your life. Don’t get yourself into a situation where, instead of one person in trouble, the Police have 2 victims to deal with.

learn new skills

Attending some self-defense courses can be a great idea. You will learn to defend yourself, escape danger and use common objects to protect yourself🇧🇷 If you’ve never done anything like this, don’t worry, you might be surprised at what you’re capable of. And who knows, it might end up making a difference in a critical or unpleasant situation.

Nothing is more important than life. If you think we left out any tips, let us know by leaving a comment. And be sure to share this post with your loved ones. After all, it’s always important to be safe.
