How to successfully pass your exams

Some time ago I received the following email:

“I am a student. I am sending you this message to let you know that my final exam is approaching. Is there any advice you can give me? I really want to pass my exam successfully.”

“Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.”

I emailed the following message to the requester:

I hope that you have studied well before the exam because it is the first and most important factor in passing the exam successfully.

Affirmations, visualization, focus, and learning to stay calm are also important, but they won’t help much unless you’ve read, studied, and practiced everything you need for the exams.

If you want to pass the exams successfully, you have to be prepared for them. You must learn well and repeat what you have learned over and over again.

In many cases, however, it seems that knowing the subject of the exam well is not enough.

You may be ready for the exam, knowing everything about the exam topic, but stress, nervousness and worry can lead to lack of concentration and attention. This can cause you to forget what you have learned and you could make mistakes.

To prevent this, repeating affirmations, visualizing, learning to concentrate, and calming the turmoil of the mind are of great importance.

Tips for successfully passing the exam

1. A few days or a week before the exam, start repeating affirmations. Repeat the following affirmations many times a day whenever you have time:

“I am calm, relaxed and focused throughout the exam.”
“I pass the exam easily and successfully.”

2. Start a few days before the exam and take a few minutes several times a day to imagine yourself sitting in the classroom, feeling good and calm, and getting all the answers right. It’s like daydreaming, except you believe what you’re visualizing will be true and have no doubts about it.

3. You will also find it most useful when training your mind to focus. You won’t be able to develop a strong focus in a few days. You need more time for that. But even a little training will improve it.

At least a week before the exam, start with the first exercise in my article on concentration.

4. Sit in a quiet place two or three times a day, pay attention to your body and mind, and try to relax them. You may find that tension keeps returning to your body. Don’t give up and keep relaxing your body and mind. Repeating the relaxation several times a day each day will make it easier for you to calm your body and mind during the exam.

I cannot guarantee that you will successfully pass your exam after following these suggestions. However, they would certainly increase your chances of success and better grades.
