How to make nail polish dry faster: 4 tricks to dry it fast

Have you ever heard that the only moment of weakness for a woman is when she is waiting for her nail polish to dry? Jokes aside, smudging a freshly done nail may not be a big problem, but it is something quite irritating and that makes us spend more time than planned.

If you, when doing your nails, are always frustrated because you just can’t keep the nail polish intact until it’s completely dry, you need to know these homemade tricks that promise to speed up this process and leave you free to carry out your activities without worrying about your nails. :

1. Cold air blast

You know that urge to blow your nails to see if the nail polish dries faster? A much more efficient way to do this is to use the cold air jet of the hair dryer. For this, you must choose the lowest power of the device and keep it at least 20 cm from your nails, otherwise you run the risk of leaving them full of polka dots.

A detail to note is that the cold air jet dries only the most superficial layer of enamel, but not the lower layers. So you still need to be careful not to bump your nails, as a stronger impact could damage your freshly done manicure.

2. Bowl with ice and cold water

The cold is a great friend of the manicure! However, this trick needs preparation beforehand, otherwise you will end up ruining the nail polish in an attempt to speed up drying.

Therefore, it is interesting to leave a bowl of ice ready in the freezer before polishing your nails. When you’re done with your manicure, add cold water to the bowl, wait two minutes and dip your fingers in for 60 seconds. Let the water dry your nails naturally so they don’t smudge. With this trick, your nail polish will set much faster.”

3. A drop of olive oil or vegetable oil

Another way to speed up the drying of your nail polish is to apply a drop of olive oil or other vegetable oil of your choice to the base of the nail, right after you nail polish. Wait a minute for the product to spread and place your fingers in cold running water.

Again, the low temperature will accelerate the drying of the enamel. However, the oil has one more advantage, as it prevents cotton lints and other particles from sticking to the nail polish when it is still wet, preventing you from having to repaint your nail.

4. Apply the nail polish in thin layers

Applying nail polish in a single, thick layer may seem more practical, but it will take longer to dry. Therefore, the tip is to give preference to three very thin layers, always waiting for each one to dry before applying the next one.

That way, the total drying time will be shorter and you’ll run less risk of smudging your nail polish right after leaving the salon or spending a lot of time doing your nails at home. In addition to these homemade tricks, you can use specific products to speed up nail polish drying, such as drying bases and sprays available on the market.
