How to cover a hole in a false plaster ceiling

Sometimes the works in our house tend to leave some damage that we are not aware of until we look closely. For example, If we renovate our living room or bedroom We may have chosen to change the lighting and thereby get rid of some oculus. That is why we may have a gap in the ceiling that we must now cover in the best possible way.

This is Just an example of how to do these simple jobs in an easy way and economical with professional results.

The first thing we need is cut a piece of board large enough to cover the hole, but also enter it. We must check that it is secured when placing it inside the hole that we want to hide. Next, we must make a hole right in the center of the board and insert a flange. To do the drilling we can use a small drill bit. This flange will serve as a guide to adjust the position of the board once we have chosen its preferred place.

Once we have chosen the final position of the board, we will use silicone to glue it on the inside to the false plaster ceiling. With the flange we will help ourselves to place the piece in its place. The silicone will take about three hours to dry and once it is dry we can continue with our work.

As soon as we are sure that the silicone has dried, we must scrape it off. with the help of a spatula the excess remains that remain around the hole so that the dough that we are going to use later to cover the hole adheres well to the hole.

Remember the zip tie we used at the beginning to attach the board? Well now we can cut it and put it inside the hole so that it cannot be seen. Now we are going to thoroughly moisten the entire gap that remains between the board that covers the roof. After having insulated the ceiling in this way, we are now going to fill the gap with a mass of plaster, to do this we will use a spatula. We will try to leave the gap well filled so that it is at the height of the ceiling. YesBefore letting this mass dry completely, we are going to rub it with a slightly damp cloth and sand the surface if necessary. This way we will be able to cover the gap in our ceiling where there used to be an oculus or a lamp.
