How are 13 actors who shone in “Malhação”, but today are away from TV

On the air since 1995, Malhação is considered, until today, a gateway for young acting talents in the world of TV. And it is not for nothing! Renowned names in the Brazilian arts, such as Thiago Lacerda and Débora Falabella, kicked off their careers precisely in the teen soap opera. However, not all those who went through the series continue to show up on the small screen.

Star of one of the seasons most remembered by fans of Malhação, Guilherme Berenguer drew sighs from many people in the skin of Gustavo, vocalist of the musical group that was successful in the plot, Vagabanda. The actor, who turned 40 in 2020, now lives in Los Angeles, USA. Married with two children, he is currently dedicated to his career as a producer.

Protagonist of the Malhação season that addressed the universe of skateboarding, Bernardo Barreto was successful at the time as the young sportsman Cauã. However, despite the prominent role, he was unable to land other major TV projects after his participation in the plot. The heartthrob has also passed the age of 40 and, in addition to being an actor, is a filmmaker.

You probably remember Gabriel Wainer as Edu, the great villain of the 2006 season of Malhação. The actor even conquered characters in other Globo soap operas, such as Ciranda de Pedra and Passione, but he has not been seen in the station’s productions since 2010. Today, he bets on a career as a screenwriter and was part of the team of writers for the film O Doutrinador .

One of the most emblematic figures of Malhação, Sérgio Hondjakoff immortalized the unforgettable Cabeção. Fun, the character remained on the show for 6 years and, despite its success, it was the actor himself who asked to leave the cast. Today, he says he regrets it. Away from soap operas, the boy even participated, in 2020, in the reality show Made in Japan, but ended up giving up the game.

Rafael Almeida is another former protagonist of Malhação who ended up distancing himself from TV in recent years. In 2017, he participated in the telenovela O Rico e Lázaro, but, after moving to the USA, he decided to dedicate himself to the universe behind the camera. The young man opened his own production company and has directed music videos for successful artists, such as the duo Simone & Simaria.

Maria Eduarda Machado starred in the 2007 season of Malhação, but ended up moving away from the media after the end of the recordings. Graduated in Psychology, she revealed that the TV universe is very competitive and, at the time, she did not strive to conquer other roles. In 2016, the actress joined the cast of the soap opera Cúmplices de um Resgate and does not hide her desire to return to the small screen.

Juliana Martins was the first protagonist of Malhação, still in 1995. In the skin of the young lady Bella, she marked the first year of the series playing the romantic couple of Danton Mello. In 2014, she won a fixed character in the telenovela Geração Brasil, but, since the end of production, she started to dedicate herself to works in the theater, as an actress and producer.

After experiencing success in the Brazilian version of Chiquititas, Paulo Nigro was also featured in one of the seasons of Malhação. In 2015, the heartthrob came to participate in the soap opera Os Dez Mandamentos, but, in recent years, he decided to dedicate himself to his passion for travel. On social media, he makes a point of sharing records of every place in the world he visits.

Alex Gomes is still remembered today for his character in Malhação. In the plot, the boy played the charming TDB, one of the heartthrobs of Colégio Múltipla Escolha. He continues to work as an actor and, in 2020, joined the cast of the film O Hotel Mágico, by YouTuber Luccas Neto. In the same year, the handsome man became a father and celebrated the birth of his first child.

Davi Lucas began to appear on TV in his childhood. Years later, already in Malhação, the actor was successful playing the character Orelha, between 2012 and 2014. However, away from the small screen, he revealed that he had no plans to return to acting. Today, graduated in Psychology, the young man gives entrepreneurship courses to young people who want to start their own business.

Daniela Carvalho was the protagonist of the Malhação season shown from 2010 to 2011. Her character, Catarina, lived a romance with the good guy played by Bruno Gissoni. Some time later, the actress decided to leave Brazil and came to work as a bartender in the USA. Mother of a girl, she has a YouTube channel and an Instagram page dedicated to vegan cooking.

Fábio Azevedo starred in Malhação in the early 2000s. However, despite his heartthrob appearance, the actor did not remain on TV for long. He went on to dedicate himself to his voice acting career and has already lent his voice to famous characters in international productions. The boy was responsible, for example, for dubbing Doctor Strange, the popular superhero of the Marvel Universe.

After being successful as Domingas in Malhação, Carolinie Figueiredo revealed that she started to question her profession. Unsatisfied with being invited only to play stereotypical roles because of her body, she decided to leave the performing arts a little aside. Currently, she works as a therapist and parental educator, but does not rule out the possibility of returning to acting.
