How is lip filler removed?

Lip filling is an aesthetic procedure that can be done using several different substances, but one of the most used is hyaluronic acid. This is because hyaluronic acid is produced by our body, reducing the risk of rejection and allergy.

According to the Dr. Katia Blumea dental surgeon specializing in cosmetic dentistry, in cases where the procedure is performed with hyaluronic acid, its removal is done using an enzyme called hyaluronidase.

“This enzyme is injected into the place where the lip filler was performed. Within the first few hours, it starts to degrade hyaluronic acid,” he explains.

The risks of this technique are very low, and what can happen is pain in the area, redness and bruises, according to the dentist.

′′ The time for the lip to return to natural varies from person to person. In some, this happens in up to seventy-two hours, in others it can take up to seven days, depending on the organism”, she concludes.
