Dream job in Sweden pays well and you don’t have to do anything

Almost everyone dreams of finding the ideal job: something that gives pleasure and, at the same time, provides an excellent salary. And you think this is an unattainable dream? Apparently not in Sweden.

In 2017, Swedish artists Simon Goldin and Jakob Senneby created a different experiment called ‘Eternal Employment’. The idea is to hire someone for life for a job where they don’t have to do anything at all. Or rather: you can do whatever you want.

The most important thing is that every day of the week, at a certain time, the employee arrives at a train station in the city of Korsvägen, which will be connected with the city of Gothenburg until 2026. The employee can do whatever he wants during working hours ; that is, there is no specification regarding his daily responsibilities. The employment contract is indefinite and offers a good salary, days off, scheduled vacations and retirement.

The salary for the ‘eternal’ employee is paid by a special foundation created by the artists for this project. Currently, it has approximately 650 thousand dollars, and this value will increase. The creators of the project claim: “money pays better than work”. If the employee wants to leave the project, someone else will be sought.

The contract will run for 120 years. The aim of this art project is to create a ‘living urban legend’, and to show the connections between that person’s everyday life and the ‘invisible hand’ of the global economy. Requests will be accepted from December 15, 2025.
