Does Makeup Cause Acne?

A few years ago, not so many, those who had oily skin and tended to acne I needed to get away from makeup. After all, the products of the past were made with oil and there’s no way around it: it clogs the pores and makes pimples worse. Almost a controversy, right? because who has pimples I really want to hide them with a well done make-up.

cosmetic acne

Well, there is this type of acne that arises from the excess use of facial creams, makeup and even hair conditioners, or that arises from the use of poor quality products. When the cosmetic is very rich in oil, it ends up making the skin more oily, especially with frequent use.

Advances in the cosmetics industry

Fortunately, nowadays this industry has progressed a lot and you can take advantage of it. In addition to not cause pimples, there are makeups that help take care of your skin. Just read carefully the labels of the products you choose.

For example, if you have oily skin (it looks shiny on your forehead and nose, especially), take home only oil-free makeup (oil-free is the term that always appears on the label). THE ideal makeup for oily skin it needs to be water-based, which will prevent the appearance of blackheads and possible pimples.

Very cheap makeups are not always water-based, so you may need a bigger investment, but it’s nothing too exaggerated, don’t worry. If you have expired makeup products in your bag, try to throw them away. They may not even cause acne, but they will irritate your skin. Mainly eyes and mouth.

Makeup every day… can you?

The good thing is that you leave your pores unobstructed, even if the makeup is water-based. That’s because, throughout the day, pollution and sweat are already closing your pores. But if you’re on the team that doesn’t even go to the bakery with a washed face, it’s worth using a non-greasy foundation that already comes with sunscreen.

Moisturizing lipstick with a protection factor is a great choice too. The eyeshadows, mascara, blush and company can stay for night productions.

Loading your face with pigmented products is not a good idea, as, in addition to clogging your pores, it can cause allergies. So much so that you must have read interviews with actresses who prefer to keep their faces washed during the day off, to let their skin breathe.

Before and after makeup

  • The first step before makeup is to have clean skin. Wash your face with soap for oily and acne-prone skin. Opt for ice water, which is an extra help to close pores and control natural oil;
  • Then, use an astringent tonic, which, in addition to eliminating the dirt that didn’t go away with soap and water, closes the pores even more;
  • If you are going to put on makeup at night, spread an oil-free moisturizer on your face (suitable for the face, don’t use the body ones, which are richer in oil, ok?). If it’s during the day, use a sunscreen or foundation with sunscreen, as mentioned above. This step is important to prepare the skin;
  • Then, apply a primer, a makeup item that also prepares the skin, closing the pores and leaving it with a matte effect, with less shine;
  • Did you come home? So try to wash your face soon. Do the same procedures as before applying makeup (wash with soap and water, apply tonic and moisturizer or sunscreen). If you use mascara and other more pigmented products, use a non-oil based makeup remover before toner. This ensures that no make-up will clog your pores.
