Change the meaning – 15th form

The 15th way to change is a very interesting way, which we found in the NLP book Mind-lines, lines for changing minds.

To change a certain thought or a situation that is happening, we use the following idea:

🇧🇷What do you think/believe can be applied to everyone and everyone?”

The idea of this way of reframing is to exaggerate the belief or thought by expanding it with the big words: everyone, everyone, everything, always, everywhere…

Can or should everyone think like this? Will it always be like this? In all places and times?

An example we find in the book is the following. The girlfriend is waiting for her love, which is late: five, ten, twenty, thirty minutes.

When he arrives, what is the situation conducive to?

Is the situation ripe for a fight? Well, it could be and it could not be.

If she thinks, “You’re late because you don’t care about me,” the stage is set for a fight.

But think: do all the people who are late not care about each other? If so, nobody cares about anybody, because people are late, for thousands of reasons!

Another example is the thought “cancer causes death”. Can we believe this sentence? What if everyone looking for a cure for cancer and better forms of treatment thinks this way? Could we recommend this way of thinking to someone who is facing the disease courageously? Of course!

Some people find the use and abuse of alcohol a beautiful and commendable thing. But can this be applied to all people? If your mother or your daughter, your father or your son got extremely drunk would you think the same? Would it be commendable if they went every day?
