Hiccups is a dysfunction of the diaphragm muscle, which is located between the chest and abdomen, and is a benign condition.

Dysfunction of this muscle generates a change in the passage of air to the lungs, causing that characteristic sound. So the hiccup does not lead to death.

The hiccup is a transient situation, but when persistent, the ideal would be a diagnostic investigation.

Hiccups are different from choking, this one can lead to death by obstructing the epiglottis, preventing the passage of air into the lungs and thus the person’s death.
