Renowned director Sam Taylor-Johnson, 55, and her husband, Hollywood actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 32, provide a great example of fairytale romance. Apparently, the passion between them only strengthens as the years go by, as the two reached the point of, in front of friends and relatives, renewing their vows after ten years of marriage.

In 2008, Sam Taylor was 42 years old, had recently divorced and was about to direct his first feature film: The Boy from Liverpool. She, who survived two cancers, wasn’t nervous at all about her directorial debut. “After going through the cancer world, making a movie is nothing,” she commented.

Who won the main role in the work was Aaron Johnson. And that’s how fate united the paths of the actor, then 18 years old, and the mother of two. The love between them came about as they both indulged in the film project, and the rest is history.

There are those who insist on hitting the key on the difference of 24 years that separates the couple, but that was never a problem for the lovebirds. Aaron even stated, “I’m an old soul, and she’s a young soul.” The director confessed that she was attracted to the young actor’s maturity. Regarding his first impression of his partner, Sam commented, “He was very intense and absolutely decisive.”

Right away, Aaron had it in his heart that Sam would be his wife, so he didn’t want to waste time waiting. “As soon as we finished the job, he told me he would marry me,” said Sam, adding, “We had never dated, not even kissed.”

The couple announced their engagement in 2009 during the film’s UK premiere. And in 2012, five months after the birth of their second child together, they made the relationship official.

Upon marrying, the two decided to adopt each other’s surnames. The actor, then 22, explained the decision, saying, “I just don’t see any reason why women need to use a man’s last name.” He then stated, “As much I wanted to be a part of her as she wanted to be a part of me.”

The couple had two daughters, who joined the other two girls Sam had in his first marriage. The couple’s firstborn came into the world when the director was 43 years old. During the pregnancy, the future father said he was not nervous, as he already had the experience of being a stepfather to Sam’s oldest daughters.

Aaron never misses an opportunity to praise the mother of his children and show how she sets a good example. He commented, “I mean, their mother is one of the strongest, most independent women I know.”

Apparently, time has been making the beautiful couple fall in love more and more. In June 2022, they decided to celebrate their ten years of marriage and reaffirm their commitment to each other by holding a vow renewal ceremony.

A day later, the actor posted charming words on social media: “Yesterday was the most beautiful day, the summer solstice and our tenth wedding anniversary. We are more blessed than we can believe.” And he added: “Sammy, you are my love, my life, my soulmate, my wife, my world!”
