Boy who worked as a gas station attendant since he was 20 conquers the internet with his art

We live in a country with around 213 million inhabitants and most of them are full of responsibilities and tasks that their own lives occupy. On the other hand, there are so many other people who dedicate themselves to charity and, in some way, make the lives of others a little better. Finding someone who actually cares and helps is one of the things that make our hearts “warm”.

So today the awesome.club will tell the story of Eduardo Lima, an artist who, even in the face of difficulties, managed to fulfill his dream and today encourages art in schools throughout Brazil. Check it out!

How it all began

Eduardo Lima was born in 1977 in Capim Grosso hinterland of Bahia. Self-taught, he was interested in art from a very young age, and at the age of 8 he went with his father to the pottery. He observed the handling of clay for the manufacture of bricks, pots and handmade tiles. In that same pottery, he created his first art, a clay sculpture.

At school, he stood out for his artistic talent, and the encouragement of his teachers was very important for him to continue dedicating himself to art. Ink and clay mixed in the artistic vein of the Sertão boy. Painting on canvas came a little later, at the age of 20, when he still worked at the gas station in his city and painted in his spare time.

The transformation process

His art shows that the Northeast is a lively, happy place with strong people. Eduardo Lima has his works spread across more than 20 countries and has participated in collective and individual exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. The gas station attendant who became an artist today lives off his art and delights people everywhere.

what do you currently do

Currently, Eduardo works selling his own pieces, in addition to donating part of his time to encourage art in schools throughout Brazil. Through workshops, lectures, support for teachers, he motivates young people and children in schools. For the artist, this is his role as a human being and an artist, because art unites people, transforms lives and makes us better.

“I paint what I lived, felt, that’s why my art is alive”, says the artist.
