A student took graduation photos in the field where her parents work, to remind us that hard work always pays off

Every day, parents think about how to ensure a good future for their children. And good deeds are always better than just words, so some parents prefer to use their own example to pass on life lessons to their children. Such was the case for one Mexican migrant family, who found a brilliant way to teach their daughter about the importance of hard work. So, after graduating from college, the girl paid a beautiful tribute to her parents and shared their wisdom with the world.

Jennifer Rocha’s parents came to the United States from Mexico and never had the chance to fulfill their dream of attending college. So they showed their daughter that the only way to understand the importance of education was to face the hard work of farming.

After classes, she would rush to work in the fields. Her family would finish work late at night and wake up after only two or three hours of sleep. But it wasn’t just the physical work and lack of sleep, Jennifer shared that she realized how much respect people who work in agriculture deserve.

People rarely notice the efforts put into getting food to supermarkets. Behind something as simple as fruit and vegetables, there are people who sacrifice their health and work in inadequate conditions, enduring back pain and insects circling their faces.

During Jennifer’s college years, her family couldn’t afford to keep her in student housing, so she juggled long hours commuting to study, work two jobs, and work in the fields with her parents. “Many times I wanted to give up, but my parents, with their advice and support, were the reason I kept going.”

These photos are Jennifer’s tribute to her parents. Thanks to them, she was able to graduate and build a strong character. And we’re sure that many of our readers will be able to overcome all of life’s challenges, as Jennifer and her family did!
