9 Things You Shouldn’t Put in the Microwave

Although the microwave has become one of the most common appliances in today’s kitchens, many people think that it serves everything, and ends up putting the lives of the whole family in danger.

To protect yourself, we’ve created a list of some products that we shouldn’t put in a microwave at all. Read carefully so you don’t make the same mistakes.

9. Fruit

Certain fruits, such as apples and bananas, lose their flavor when microwaved, but they are not a risk. Grapes, on the other hand, go explode๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท The same happens with dried fruits, such as raisins, which leave the kitchen completely smoked๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท

8. Cardboard packaging

They are not convenient: Cardboard packaging can catch fire in the microwave. If you put a container with a metal handle on it, it could catch fire and damage your appliance forever.

7. Aluminum foil

Any metal will disintegrate your microwave๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท They must not be placed inside at all. Thinner ones, like aluminum foil, are even more dangerous than thick ones. The latter have the drawback that they never heat the food – the metal reflects the microwaves and simply does not allow the food to heat up. The thin metal absorbs the electric currents generated inside the microwave and makes the contents heat up very quickly, increasing the risk of fire.

6. Plastic

5. Eggs

Maybe you don’t know it yet, but the accelerated heating produces a lot of steam under the shell๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Since there is no other layer of protection, the egg will explode๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท This won’t necessarily destroy your microwave, but cleaning it up won’t be easy. If you want to boil an egg in the microwave, make a small hole in the top so the steam can escape.

4. Thermal cups

It is true that many cups of this type are made to be microwaved, but only those that are suitable for this. In the best case, the unfit cup simply won’t let the liquid get hot. In the worst case, it can destroy the microwave, because many of them have stainless steel components.

3. Frozen meat

Frozen meat, even at a temperature indicated for defrosting, ends up being unevenly heated๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท The inside will be frozen and the outside will look cooked.

2. Antique cups and plates

Antique china, usually hand-painted, should not be used in the microwave. According to the magazine Smithsonianwhich specializes in science, certain cups and plates manufactured before the 1960s can emit radiation.

1. Brown paper bags

Nothing looks more harmless than a paper bag. However, when microwaved, they release a large amount of toxic fumes. In addition, in very hot weather, they can catch fire.
