A few years after his death, in 1918, the entire arsenal exploded under mysterious circumstances, destroying part of the building. From 1950, the island was uninhabited: all the equipment that worked in this place sank while being transported on a ferry. In 1969, the building suffered another sinister shake: in a sudden fire, part of the floor and ceiling were burned.
