9 Amazing Things Found in Space

For thousands of years, the intrigued gaze of the human being has been directed to the sky to try to discover its mysteries, but the only thing we have been able to understand during that time is how fascinating the Universe can be. Every day, scientists discover new objects and celestial bodies in space and these discoveries give rise to new questions, frighten and cause incredible admiration.

O awesome.club features 9 awesome objects and bodies recently found in Space.

1. A river of rum and raspberry at the center of the galaxy

The Saggittarius B2 cloud is several million times the mass of the Sun, and it floats around our Milky Way. Scientists have figured out that, basically, it’s a giant river of rum and raspberry.

The fact is that they contain billions and billions of liters of alcohol and molecules called Ethyl Methanoate. This substance gives raspberries its sweet taste and rum its characteristic smell. However, its origin remains a mystery to scientists. That’s why we’re proposing to open the first intergalactic open bar pub.

2. Mickey Mouse on Mercury

US astronomers, observing the surface of the planet Mercury, discovered 3 craters that form the silhouette of Mickey Mouse. Scientists assure that Disney was inspired precisely in Space.

Of course, it’s nothing more than a prank by astronomers. But you can understand: every day, researchers receive thousands of letters and emails from enthusiasts who have found another crater similar to some object or figure.

3. The truth about the shooting star

Everyone knows that the glowing spheres that fall from the sky are meteorites that enter the atmosphere, but many are unaware of the fact that there are actually falling stars.

When a supermassive black hole absorbs a double star system, the first star (the bright sphere) is absorbed by the black hole. Just imagine: a gigantic fireball of gas 4 times bigger than our Sun, accelerated to a speed of millions of kilometers per hour. It doesn’t look so nice anymore, does it?

Here we have an animation of a star being “fired”.

4. Diamond planet

You’ve probably heard something about the diamond showers on Jupiter and Saturn. But did you know that there is a diamond planet?

The exoplanet PSR J1719-1438 b was discovered in 2009. It is located 3,900 light-years from us, and 1/3 of the mass is pure diamond – the rest is graphite, another form of carbon. According to scientists, there may be areas on the exoplanet covered with kilometers of gemstones (diamond fields).

5. Eye of Sauron

If you look up at night, you can see one of the brightest stars in the sky: Fomalhaut. It is located close to our Milky Way, and is 2.3 times heavier than the Sun.

Scientists have spent a lot of time studying it, but the real magic is produced when, using very modern equipment, they capture images with an infrared filter. The result was that the Fomalhaut is similar to the famous eye of Sauron from the movie “Lord of the Rings”.

The dark area in the center is the same star, and the oval shape around it is space junk. It’s terrifying, but incredibly beautiful.

6. Rain Cloud

7. The message

This object will perhaps encounter an alien civilization. The Voyager device was launched in 1970 and has been exploring the cosmos ever since. Thanks to him, we have photos of the Earth from a distance of 6 billion kilometers, as well as images of Jupiter and Saturn. But the most interesting thing is what is included with the housing of the device.

In his “armor” there is a gold disc that contains greetings in 55 languages, songs from different peoples, people’s voices, sounds of nature, 100 photos and coordinates of the Earth. This message was sent with the hope that the spacecraft would be noticed by some extraterrestrial civilization.

Here you can see the contents of the disc.

8. Huge lens

One of the most impressive discoveries is gravitational lensing. This formation in space is so massive that its gravitational field deflects the direction of electromagnetic radiation. Just like a magnifying glass does with a beam of light.

That is, when we look through a cosmic lens, we see objects outside our field of vision and slightly distorted. Thanks to such formations, scientists can observe objects that are found in other galaxies.

9. Dark Flow

🇧🇷

Scientists assure us that beyond our visible Milky Way, there is something huge. We cannot see what it is, but we observe that it is something that absorbs parts of neighboring universes like a drain.

Some scientists called the phenomenon “dark flow” because it was the only name that sounded mysterious and macabre enough for it. Some astrophysicists believe that the edge of the other great universe is moving towards ours. But there is still no exact answer, so we can only wait until they invent a more powerful telescope.
