Colombia

A country that rivals Brazil when it comes to coffee. The producing regions have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The so-called Coffee Route is located in a region that covers three departments (states): Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío, with the cities of Manizales, Pereira and Armenia being the best known. In these regions, it is possible to hire tours with visits to the farms that include harvesting coffee, knowing the production processes and tasting the best varieties. A must visit is the city of Pereira, where the coffee route includes visits to producing farms that offer thermal waters, adventure sports, as well as a theme park where the main attraction is… coffee.

Costa Rica

Another country well known for its specialty coffees. There are eight producing regions: Valle Central, Valle Occidental, Tres Ríos, Turrialba, Tarrazú, Orosí, Brunca and Guanacaste. The most recommended thing for coffee lovers is to visit the country during the harvest period, which runs from August to March.

There are a plethora of tours offered by travel agencies to visit the producing farms and taste a little of the local coffee. These same agencies offer other tours in this small but fascinating Central American country, which has Atlantic and Pacific beaches, hot springs, volcanoes, historical attractions and a lot of adventure tourism. One of the most recommended tours is the Britt Coffee Tour, which includes good food and a visit to the 37-meter La Paz Falls.

Ethiopia

Simply the country where, it is believed, coffee was discovered. The legend is that a shepherd noticed that his sheep, after eating the red berries, were full of energy. The region considered the birthplace of the drink is the city of Kaffa (the resemblance of the word to ‘coffee’ is not a mere coincidence), in the southwest of the country. And it is precisely there, in a mountainous area, that we suggest starting a tour cross country.

The tours offered include visits to producing areas and a tasting of coffee prepared in the same way as the first tribes did, in an Ethiopian coffee ceremony. besides the tour from the cafe, it is possible to visit the Nechisar National Park, where the visitor can have an incredible experience on a safari and come face to face with species such as hippos, zebras and crocodiles.

Tanzania

Neighboring Ethiopia and with an exuberant nature, Tanzania is known for its incredible safaris and for being the country of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. What many people don’t know is that the country has conditions that are especially appropriate for the production of good coffee. The producing regions are the provinces of Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Ruvuma, Kagera and Mbeya.

If you go to this country of fantastic natural beauties, we recommend a visit to the Kilimanjaro coffee route, where you can discover the production areas and, at the same time, have contact with the natives of the Chagga tribe. Still in Tanzania, it is worth a visit to Lake Eyasi, with its incredible sunsets and to the Serengeti National Park, a safari described by specialists in tourism as one of the most amazing in the world🇧🇷 There, it is possible to observe the so-called “big-5” of the savannas: lion, leopard, rhinoceros, buffalo and elephant. All in their natural habitat.

Of a total of 18 departments (States), no less than 15 produce coffee.
