6 books that will help with your diet –

The selection includes titles suggested by our nutrition editor, Eliane Contreras, that unravel some myths about the world of food, show the way to healthy eating habits and encourage you to cook your meals (even if quickly and only once in a while). Check out:

1. Clean, Alejandro Junger (Editora Reptil).

Eat more natural foods and reduce processed foods. This is the proposal of eat clean (eating clean, in Portuguese) – a movement that emerged in New York and gained strength with the book Clean, by the Uruguayan doctor living in the United States Alejandro Junger (in Brazil, published by Reptil). Followed by celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Demi Moore, the doctor initially suggests a 21-day detox. The menu includes a solid meal (lunch) and two liquid meals (breakfast and dinner). Intermediate snacks are allowed as long as a 12-hour fast, between dinner and breakfast, is respected. It is the secret for the body to eliminate toxins more easily. After that, the program becomes more flexible, but the rule of prioritizing natural foods remains for life.

2. Eat well! How?, Patrícia Bittencourt and Paula Azambuja Ribeiro (Reading Publishers).
The book will be your ally to acquire healthier habits. The authors Patrícia Bittencourt and Paula Azambuja explain how common health problems (restrained intestine, migraine, compulsion for sweets) can be treated only with dietary re-education.

3. Food Rules, Michael Pollan (Editor of Intrinsic).

The aim of the work is to simplify people’s eating habits. This manual sets out simple, easy-to-memorize rules that allow us to eat well and with common sense. Michael Polla, author of the book, seeks to demystify some myths about nutrition and also facilitate the understanding of elaborate diets.

4. The art of eating, Thich Nhat Hanh (Editora Agir).

The book is part of the Mindfulness essentials collection, by the Zen Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh, who advocates the practice of meditation focused on breathing and bringing thoughts to the present moment. With short reflections, the author seeks to raise awareness about the art of eating.

5. What are you hungry for? Deepak Chopra (Lute Publisher).
Deepak Chopra brought together discoveries from traditional and alternative medicine to unravel the issues behind the fight against scales. The famous author proves that the problems of obesity are related to situations (or motivations) that lead us to eat — discovering them is the first step to getting rid of excess weight.

6. Anticancer, David Servan-Schreiber (Fontanar Publishers).
After being diagnosed with a brain tumor, French physician David Servan-Schreiber conducted an extensive survey of scientific studies and alternative treatments with the aim of putting anticancer biology into practice. In the work, he shares his experience and teaches a new way of living, in addition to revealing the potential that some foods have to protect our body and keep it away from diseases.
