As much as one loves one’s job, it is not unusual for there to be moments that produce a feeling of overwhelm and exhaustion. The commitments, responsibilities and limitations it imposes can be stressful. However, we can always be happy at work, even when we don’t really like the work we do.

A constructive attitude together with high levels of motivation contribute to making us feel better in the workplace. It may not be everything we want, but there are ways to adopt a perspective that allows us to focus on all the positive things it brings us.

When work is a pleasure, life is beautiful. But when it is imposed on us, life is slavery”.

-Maxim Gorky-

When you manage to be happy at work, you gain a real treasure for life. Work is one of the spaces in which we spend the longest and on which many of our plans and, ultimately, our well-being depend. Therefore, we have brought some of those keys that help us make work a better experience. These are five of them.

1. Focus on the present

Many of the problems especially those associated with stress and anxiety, exist more in the mind than in reality. They are born from negative expectations regarding what may happen in the future. For example, they imagine difficulties that have not yet occurred, negative events that have not yet happened, or terrible outcomes that do not necessarily have to happen.

All of this generates enormous psychological wear. In these circumstances, it is impossible to be happy at work. Quite the opposite. The workplace becomes a space of anguish, because we are always fearing the worst. The antidote to this is to focus on the present. . Only deal with today’s task. If we do it well, the consequences will also be positive.

2. Collaborate with others to be happy at work

There are many circumstances in life in which the best way to help ourselves is by helping others. Being sensitive to the needs and problems of others is something that enriches us as human beings. At the same time, it helps us get out of that egocentric bubble, which only brings discomfort.

We will notice, little by little, that the disposition of others towards us is more kind and understanding. This will significantly improve our work environment and fill our days with a special energy.

3. Learn to rest

One of the most common problems among workers is the lack of balance between their work and rest. Breaks are as or more important than the tasks themselves. A fatigued person is not productive and is more prone to making mistakes and overlook important details. She is also less creative and sharp in her assessments.

When we are tired, we do in an hour what we could do in half. Besides, we easily fall into bad moods. Therefore, we have to constantly combine work and rest.. During the day with active breaks and outside of the day cutting off work activities.

4. Value and thank

Being happy at work is easier if we take a minute every day to reflect before starting the day. Giving value to our work and stopping to think about its benefits, both for ourselves and for the rest of the world, allows us to change our perspective.

In addition, We surely have many reasons to be grateful for every work day.. The mere fact of having the powers to carry out our work is already a reason for gratitude. Also the possibility of generating income for ourselves and for many other people. When we buy bread we help others have a job and means to live. Let’s never forget to give thanks.
