5 Good Deeds That Can Make Your Life Hell

This situation has already been experienced by many people: the person does a good deed, but in return ends up receiving something that could hardly be described without using profanity.

The team of awesome.club analyzed stories from some internet users about what their good attitudes resulted in, and identified five types of nice gestures that people usually end up regretting.

Deliver your stuff for free

We are not saying that you should make your house a warehouse of useless things, failing to help those who need it most. But in any case, by publishing an advertisement about donating objects, you risk running into an avalanche of unfounded claims and grievances.

For example, a man posted an ad on the Internet in which he donated an aquarium. The only thing he asked in return was that the interested party remove the object on his own, as he had suffered a back injury and was unable to lift weight. Despite this, some people wanted the donor to move the aquarium to another city, while others demanded that the fish be donated as well.

The netizen was just trying to be kind, but ended up losing his temper and selling the aquarium for a very low price. Immediately, a buyer appeared: a father wanted to present his daughter and went to the owner’s house to pick up the object. A few weeks later, he uploaded a photo of the tank already full of fish.

As you can see from this story, it’s safer not to donate things over the Internet, but to sell them even if for a symbolic price. However, even then you can still have problems, because many people like to bargain, saying that they are going through a difficult situation, which is not always true.

There are other options: handing over the object you no longer need to a charity. Or take it to a disposal point, if one is available in your city. Some of these places receive, for example, old furniture.

Loving a person who is not prepared for a serious relationship

People who say they are not ready to start a serious relationship are not usually lying. But maybe they are avoiding specifying that they are not ready to form a couple with you. You must know of cases where, right after the end of a relationship, that same person who said he didn’t want to start a family quickly finds a wife or husband.

A disinterested love is ideal, but only if it is reciprocal. Don’t waste time or energy trying to make those around you happy for the sheer convenience of waiting for a better option to come along. Even if this sounds painful, it’s useless to want to transform yourself into the ideal being for the other and hope that he falls in love with you.

Never beg anyone to enter into a serious relationship with you. If the person really loves you, they won’t have a problem doing this.

Remember that you deserve much more than a “probably”.

Helping those who don’t want to be helped

Unfortunately, many people experience very sad situations when loved ones are in trouble, but they categorically refuse to admit it, even if it destroys their own life. What should you do in these cases? Of course, no one wants to leave relatives and friends in the lurch, but you have to understand that your efforts may be in vain.

No matter how hard you try to help someone, whatever method you use, if that person doesn’t want your help, you’re just wasting your time. It’s hard to accept, especially when you want to get someone out of a bad situation. But in the end, all you can do is hope that your loved one will think better of it and accept your help before it’s too late.

Lending money to someone who is used to living at the expense of others

When a person is in a really desperate situation, you have to help him. It’s just that there is a category of people who seem to be always in trouble, not bothering to solve the problem, waiting for help from friends and relatives. If you lend money to people like that, you run the risk of never getting it back.

It is easy to identify people of this type; try to get back the borrowed money, and you will surely end up being hated. In addition, they will talk about you to mutual acquaintances, classifying you as a soulless monster. Therefore, if someone asks you to borrow money, limit the amount: it is better to offer an amount that will not be needed if the person does not pay it back.

want to please everyone

There is nothing wrong with having a desire to please others, or to become someone better to favor a loved one. However, according to what we found, it is possible that you will end up regretting it. First, it is simply impossible to please everyone in everything. And secondly, in the effort to adapt to the other, you risk losing yourself.

Your alarm bells have to go off if someone insistently demands that you change your behavior, lifestyle, or appearance. You are probably dealing with a manipulator who, in case of disobedience, will make you look selfish (however, this person will not be satisfied, even if you become an “ideal” for him). Don’t pay attention to people like that, because worrying about yourself is not a sign of this behavior.

When you don’t have a little healthy selfishness about your time, health, goals in life and hobbies, in the end you will have nothing to offer people. Once you have healthy self-esteem and don’t allow others to abuse you, it will be possible to maintain a harmonious relationship. Real selfishness is when you try to dominate others to achieve your own goals.
