3 Brothers Create Halloween Costumes for Little Sister, and Their Bonding Moves

Having another child at age 45 and having three adult children can be challenging. But for the Schmidts, the unexpected arrival of little Avery was the sweetest of experiences. Rather than alienating family members, as some might think it would, the birth of the girl only brought them closer together, causing a new Halloween tradition to emerge.

How it all began

Patti and her husband, Larry, were married very young, and they had three children in a row. However, after a period of great joys, life decided to play some tricks on them. After the birth of their youngest child, the family suffered several losses, and was on the verge of giving up hope. However, the greatest blessings often come when least expected. And at 44, Patti became pregnant with Avery, making the family of six complete.

A special bond between brothers was starting to grow

Larry, Patrick and Gavin were respectively 22, 20 and 16 years old when they found out they were going to have a baby sister. Today, the moment of the big news is considered one of the most special by the family. Initially, the boys were surprised, as might be expected. However, the shock eventually gave way to excitement.

Despite their significant age difference — around 17 years — the brothers have an unbreakable connection. They do their best to spend as much time together as possible and love to enjoy, with their youngest, moments that will become pleasant memories. Whether sunbathing during surf sessions, teaching to play musical instruments or even having a pretend tea.

And a charming tradition was born

When Avery was just a baby, she loved being tossed around by her older siblings. Patti even did a photo shoot called #averyintheair and thought it would be a good idea to prepare a costumed version for Halloween. The family had so much fun creating three large costumes and a small one that they decided to go ahead with the initiative.

Tradition hides no special Halloween meaning. Because they have a full schedule, family members are not always able to get together. So the Halloween photo series gave the Schmidt family the perfect excuse to get creative and have a good time.

Another reason the Schmidts continue the tradition is the thunderous feedback they get from their followers. Family fans love to check out photos of Avery and her siblings wearing fun costumes, or of the little one wearing the same look her mother wore when she was the same age. And what about Avery dressed up as her favorite Disney characters? They are images capable of making our day happier, right?
