20+ Photos of Dubai that cause us admiration and amazement at the same time

One of the seven United Arab Emirates, Dubai is often associated with the words “luxury” and “exclusivity”, being a resting place for the rich and famous. The city often impresses tourists – there, for example, we can find vending machines for coins and gold bars, and even cars that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, apparently abandoned on the streets.

With the fascination that the city awakens, the awesome.club went in search of other interesting secrets and curious facts kept in Dubai, just waiting to be unveiled by visitors. Come with us!

1. There is a lot of gold in Dubai

The most populous city in the UAE has one of the busiest gold markets in the world, which is why Dubai has been nicknamed the “City of Gold”. The sector is home to hundreds of merchants, most of them jewelry stores. Some of them were opened more than 40 years ago. In fact, the heaviest gold ring was made in one of the shops in the traditional market in the city, weighing 64 kg.

4. At one point in the region’s development and expansion history, around 20% of all cranes in the world were in Dubai

5. Dubai Mall is so big that taxis run around it

9. Mobile fueling services go anywhere and anytime

The United Arab Emirates, including Dubai, have a fuel delivery service via an app – employees go to the location indicated by the customer and refuel the vehicle. The car owner doesn’t even need to be present, just leave the tank open.

10. “Special” license plates are auctioned for a fortune

The sense of exclusivity is also reflected in the license plates of the cars. A few years ago, for example, an Indian businessman bought identification plate no. 5, registered in Dubai — it is worth noting that identification plate n. 1 of Dubai is not for sale as it belongs to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, current Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates since 2006, in addition to being Emir of Dubai.

11. City of records

Dubai loves to break world records. The superlative is used constantly: the highest, the biggest, the longest, the richest, the most expensive. Records are set so often that a Guinness Book of Records staff judge has moved to the UAE to keep up with the workload.
