Life is made of moments. There are situations where everything just goes from bad to worse and sometimes a drop of water is enough to make the bucket overflow. But whatever the source of irritation – people, objects or weather – don’t forget that after the storm comes the calm.

Yesterday we went to water the garden — my wife, my mother-in-law and I — because “it was +30ºC”. I tried to show them the weather forecast, saying it was going to rain heavily, but they wouldn’t listen. Then fine. I turned on the pump, filled the water reservoirs and spent two hours listening to how lazy I was, since I wasn’t helping them with a watering can in hand. At 9:00 pm sharp, there came a beautiful storm that lasted an hour and flooded the entire garden. My wife and mother-in-law were very upset about the bad weather. They decided to organize the first reunion of ex-schoolmates in a very fancy restaurant. At 7 pm, all 17 young people were already seated at the table, choosing the tastiest dishes and the cheapest drinks. Our three-year-old son got a remote control jeep from his grandparents. The toy almost “flew” around the apartment, hitting all corners and furniture legs. When the jeep lost some parts I suggested my husband hide it until the little one grows up. He snapped back, “No, let him play.” Then he told a story from his life. His uncle worked in a truck factory. There was a department there that made miniature trucks produced by the automaker itself, for sale. My husband was seven when he got his first miniature, and his uncle started giving him a different model every birthday. However, whenever the uncle left, his mother kept the toy in the closet, saying: “It is fragile, you can break it. I’ll give it back to you when you grow up.” And so seven small trucks sat on the shelf for years.
