19-year-old creates prosthetics and wheelchairs for dogs with a 3D printer and gives them away for free

The loyalty of dogs is, without a doubt, something that no one argues about. In addition, they are also affectionate, protective, funny and cute. But, on some occasions, they end up needing help, such as when they are victims of accidents or are born with a motor problem, thus preventing them from moving normally. In these situations, humans must act to reciprocate at least some of all the affection given by dogs.

O awesome.club wants to share with you the story of a young engineering student who decided to use his talent and knowledge to help dogs that need prostheses and wheelchairs, allowing them to lead a fuller life.

a young entrepreneur

Alejandro Colli is a 19-year-old Argentine, studying computer engineering at the National University of Avellaneda, in the province of Buenos Aires. Although he considers himself a young man like any other, he discovered that his talent, curiosity and restlessness could be used to benefit his community. Thus, he began to delve deeper into prosthesis creation studies, using 3D printing, and this totally changed his life.

the prostheses

Alejandro’s love for dogs materialized in the first prostheses intended for furry ones with limb problems. After making them, he started offering them on social media for free. With the help of his parents and his 3 brothers and at the request of several people, Alejandro decided to expand production.

Wheelchair

the work of Propaw Lab

Creating each wheelchair takes a lot of dedication and requires the printer to run for 18 hours. Although Alejandro is responsible for production costs, he receives contributions from volunteers both from those who benefit and from those who wish to collaborate (those interested should contact the Propaw Lab via Facebook and Instagram). His dream is to get help from a company that will allow him to produce on a larger scale.

We hope that massive dissemination of the project on social media will help Alejandro’s dream come true. And beyond the notoriety he’s gotten in recent days, there’s no better payday for him than seeing the dogs’ joy as they realize they can lead a normal life using the wheelchairs. And their owners, no doubt, are very grateful to Alejandro.

Bonus: dogs benefited by Alejandro’s work

Do you know of any other endeavors that aim to help our furry friends? Or do you have any ideas on how to collaborate with the Propaw Lab🇧🇷 How do you think the community could reward Alejandro for his work? Please leave your opinion in the comments.
