19 movie characters whose wedding dresses made fashion history

When watching a TV series or a romantic movie, we — the viewers — look forward to the moment when the protagonists will be together. And the icing on the cake, of course, is the wedding ceremony. On the other hand, there are also films that start with the protagonists’ vows at the altar, and after that the plot twists begin. In any case, watching a wedding on film is fascinating, especially when the costume designers do a spectacular job.

We, from awesome.club, we love romantic movies, and if there’s one other thing we’re also passionate about, it’s fashion. With that in mind, we’ve gathered the most stunning wedding dresses from the world of cinema to share with you. Check out!

Carrie, Sex and the City: The Movie (2008)

Preparing for one of the most important moments of her life, Carrie tries on designer dresses from different models in front of the public, and, in the end, opts for a look by British designer Vivienne Westwood. Both in the series and in the film about the adventures of the four inseparable friends, several wedding dresses were shown, but the one in the photo above was the one that most caught the attention of viewers.

Adaline, Adaline’s Incredible Story (2015)

The wedding dress worn by Adaline in the film incorporates several touches of 1930s fashion: a cream satin gown decorated with beautiful lace, fine gloves and a voluminous veil that every girl of the time dreamed of having.

Victory, The Young Queen Victoria (2009)

maggie, Runaway Bride (1999)

Julia Roberts’ heroine tried on several white dresses throughout the film, but the most memorable one was the one she wore to her last wedding. The classic off-the-shoulder satin gown was created by designer Amsale Aberra.

Jo, Cinderella in Paris (1957)

The protagonist wore a laconic, low-waisted wedding dress by Hubert de Givenchy, which emphasized Audrey Hepburn’s delicate silhouette and added a certain lightness to it. Also, he’s a great option for those brides who want to get out on the dance floor.

Katniss, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

The white dress worn by Katniss with a crazy ruffled skirt and a somewhat futuristic take on the corset, was designed by Indonesian Tex Saverio. Although the heroine did not wear the dress to walk down the aisle, it is impossible to leave it out of the list.

Blair, Gossip Girl: The Blog Girl (2007–2012)

The series’ costume designer chose the blue dress in which the school queen got married in the collection of stylist Elie Saab. “You had to convey the image of old-world glamor meeting contemporary high fashion,” said costume designer Eric Daman.

Miracles EspositoMuñeca Brava (1998–1999)

Milagros decided to walk down the aisle in a dress that fully matched her rebellious character. The short skirt at the front and long at the back give it a romantic look while not restricting movement. And as we know, the heroine ran off to play football in her wedding dress.

Padme, Star Wars — Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)

Mia, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004)

A royal bride’s dress should have lace detailing and a long train for children to carry as she walks down the aisle to church. O stylist who dressed Princess Mia was Gary Jones.

Lady Rose, Downton Abbey (2010–2015)

Lady Rose’s wedding dress was found in a clothing store vintage — the piece was in perfect condition and was taken directly to the set🇧🇷 The dress has beaded details and a free silhouette. It is one of the most spectacular pieces of Downton Abbey🇧🇷

Tracy, High society (1956)

Grace Kelly’s heroine walked down the aisle in a multi-layered chiffon dress with a skirt new look decorated with embroidered flowers. And, to finish off the look, she donned a wide-brimmed hat and short gloves.

Anastasia, Fifty Shades Freed (2018)

A lace dress, open shoulders and a long train are the most striking features of the model designed by Monique Lhuillier. “I wanted to make sure it was iconic and very memorable because once in a movie, it lives forever. So I wanted to create something traditional but with a modern twist and really make sure it encompassed Anastasia’s personality. I also wanted it to have the aesthetic of my collections, knowing that the reason they came to me was to showcase my design aesthetic through character,” Monique said of the dress.

Phoebe, young witches (1998–2006)

Schatze, How to Catch a Millionaire (1953)

Interpreted by Lauren Bacall, the hunter of rich men walked down the aisle in a mermaid lace dress: when the skirt reaches the knee area, it flares out, extending to the floor. And the accessories matched the dress perfectly: a hat and a pearl necklace and bracelet.

Mary, A matter of time (2013)

Rachel McAdams’ heroine proved that a red wedding dress can be beautiful. The model may even be simple and without many details, but thanks to the color, the bride will not go unnoticed at all.

Angelica, Angelica, the Marquise of Angels (1964)

It is said that the premiere of this film had the illustrious presence of Coco Chanel, who, after the final credits, gave the production a standing ovation. We think the designer was dazzled by Angelica’s luxurious outfits, including the wedding dress with an off-the-shoulder design and a voluminous skirt, which tucked another lace skirt underneath.

Scarlett, …Gone with the Wind (1939)

the costume designer …Gone with the Wind deliberately chose a dress vintage for Scarlett, despite the heroine having a strong sense of fashion. According to the book, the girl wears her mother’s dress because the wedding was done in a hurry; and that’s why this look little resembles the style of the character.

Liv, War brides (2009)

Stylist Vera Wong specializes in wedding dresses. For the heroine of Kate Hudson, she chose a fluffy dress with a low waist and a sweetheart neckline. A lilac belt with a bow gives the look a special elegance.
