A person with little knowledge of Polish can easily get into comical situations. An acquaintance of mine was once in Poland and urgently needed to go to the bathroom. He then asked a pedestrian where he had a toilet, and received the answer: “Cały czas prosto” (“Straight all the time.” — Editorial awesome.club🇧🇷 But my acquaintance understood this as “straight for an hour” and was not happy at all, as he couldn’t stand it any longer.

According to one of the local legends, these gnomes were the first inhabitants of the region. But, according to another, people called these little beings that came from the river Oder to help them get rid of evil spirits. Each gnome represents something and holds a story. The one pictured above is called Wrocławiak — citizen of Wroclaw in Polish. He even carries a book with the inscriptions “I was born in Wroclaw” in his hands.

Cieszyn is a city located on the border between Poland and the Czech Republic
