To expand and develop your tarot skills, you often need to read everything you can get your hands on. However, this can be a bit overwhelming. E especially if you are a total newbie to the world of tarot as there are so many tarot books to choose from.

With so many options available, where do you start, how do you know what to choose and what got you hooked?

As a tarot reader, I have sought out many tarot books to deepen my relationship with the cards and the tarot system. Before you spend hours searching for your first or next tarot book, read this tarot book review list, which features seventeen of my favorite books and tarot guides.

Hopefully in a few weeks your bookshelf will be coloring your little library with many more tarot books and you can recommend me some of your readings in the comments. But for now, without further ado, the ultimate tarot book list of 2019.

The Ultimate Tarot Guide is definitely one of the best tarot books to start with. I like to use this book as a guide as it is easy to use yet comprehensive enough.

It provides easy ways to follow reading steps and options for various card spreads, often followed by a detailed description of each card of the major and minor arcana.

I personally return to The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meaning whenever I’m looking for a refresher. It’s comprehensive and accurate enough, but easy to use.

So I believe this is one of the best beginner tarot books out there. You won’t regret buying this book if you’re just looking to get started with tarot and want a solid introduction.

The book also explains in detail how to read a tarot and what spreads to use.

These spreads are ordered by the number of cards required. You can start with the single card “yes/no” spread

but can also test your tarot skills with the comprehensive 24-card Double Horoscope spread.

While Power Tarot doesn’t go as deep into the history of the cards as I would have liked (which is great for a beginner), it does make a very clear and concise summary of the tool’s uses and origins.

There’s also a good lengthy explanation, not just for each card, but for how the cards can interact with each other. In addition, the authors have also provided empowerment meanings for each card. This is very useful when explaining the use of the cards in spells and incantations.

Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Book of Tarot – Rachel Pollack
