16 Marriages That Had Everything Going Right, But Didn’t End The Way The Bride And Groom Hoped

Wedding stories are always exciting… Whoops, wait, not always. They can also be very funny and usually these ceremonies (the ones that go wrong) are the ones most remembered by the guests. They are also part of the memories that many brides and grooms would like to erase from their own memory. How can you forget the party where that grandmother complained too loudly and everyone listened? Or when the photographer was attacked by animals and nobody helped the poor guy? Or even when the whole party was bought in an Internet promotion and, obviously, nothing turned out as those involved expected?

Would you like to know these and other real stories? We, from awesome.club, we’ve compiled some of the funniest stories to tell you and guarantee a few good laughs. Come on?

I went to a wedding and sat next to the man they hired to videotape the party. My aunt also sat next to him and spent the whole night talking and gossiping about everyone. It’s just that almost everything she said came out on video. The cameraman was amazing and made two copies of the video: in one he edited the audio and in the other he left it as it was. Not as dramatic as some other stories, but quite uncomfortable. It was a very pleasant, romantic, perfect wedding… the party afterwards was also wonderful. It was time for the best man to toast, and when he was finished, he asked all of us to raise our glasses for… he said the name of the groom and accidentally called the bride by the name of the groom’s ex! © Laidonsettee / Reddit
The bride’s father arrived 45 minutes late to walk his daughter down the aisle. While we were waiting for him, the air conditioning broke down. It was almost 40°C and very humid. The place was very busy. I could only move a little without touching anyone and the heat was very unpleasant. I imagine that the problem with the air conditioning affected the refrigeration, because almost all the food was spoiled. The only thing that held up was the salad and pasta buffet, which was not enough for even half of the guests. Most people left after the first dance. Two of the bride’s aunts fainted. The bride and wedding planner ended up crying. © PleaseantSalad/ Reddit
My best friend’s mother got remarried and the ceremony was very beautiful and very expensive, but for some reason they didn’t hire a DJ. At the last moment, she asked me to take care of the music, sent me a playlist and very quickly explained everything I had to do and when I had to put each song on. I didn’t understand anything but she ignored it and said she trusted me. Apparently, her whole life, she’s dreamed of walking down the aisle to a specific song that I obviously don’t remember what it was. The plan was for the walk down the aisle to coincide with sunset and it did, while I tested the songs one by one trying to find the right one, but none were. For many years, whenever I called my friend at home, his stepdad would say, “Oh, is that the guy who ruined my marriage? Are you all right?” © yeetnpotatoes / Reddit
I went to a wedding that the bride and groom bought for a package offered on Groupon, which I thought was incredible: after all, why spend a fortune on your wedding day? I believe that the direction of the space where the event was held considered that it could make some cost cuts. So they put us in a place that smelled so much like cat urine that some guests left. The only drinks were from a coin machine. Furthermore, the hall was close to the airport and every time a plane took off it was necessary to pause the ceremony because absolutely nothing could be heard. And to top it off, the day after the wedding we were all intoxicated by the food from the party. © Independent-Nobody43 / Reddit
It wasn’t me, it was my cousin who had this experience. He attended a wedding where the bride and groom were deceived by the organizer. An hour before the ceremony, there was nothing in the place where it would be held. No food, no decor, just a few tables in the middle of an empty ballroom. The bride and groom realized that they had been tricked and that the organizer had used the money to buy a house. The bride and groom decided to go after the organizer, who was found sleeping in his house. The feat made national news and the wedding planner ended up being sued by several couples who also fell into his trap. © gausah / Reddit
I went to my girlfriend’s friend’s wedding. The ceremony was pretty standard: they got married in a local church and the party was at a beautiful restaurant. The photographer asked the bride to let the bridesmaids (my girlfriend among them) come out to take some pictures. A few minutes later, one of the bridesmaids came running and asking for help: several swans were attacking the photographer and most of the people around were doing nothing about it; they just laughed at the poor man, who could only run and scream. © Nikopavvi8 / Reddit
The poor bride at a wedding I attended was “in those days” on the same date as the ceremony. She was nauseous and cramping the entire time. She didn’t even feel well to eat, because her stomach hurt and everything she tried to eat ended up coming back. She also couldn’t even stand up because of the cramps she felt. She spent the whole day sitting. In most wedding photos, she appears with a suffering face instead of smiling due to the unbearable pain she felt. © Awkwardlydancing / Reddit
This marriage wasn’t ruined, but something very funny happened. The person who performed the ceremony was very traditional and refused to say the phrase “you may kiss the bride”. The bride knew this would happen, but still, she insisted that the groom say the phrase and was convinced that he would say it. Obviously that didn’t happen. Then the bride kissed the groom for what seemed like three minutes. At first, all the guests applauded and screamed with emotion, but as the kiss continued, the applause faded and there came a moment when the couple were in a very passionate kiss and the room with about 300 people was in total silence. I was best man at the wedding, so I was in a privileged place and could see the puzzled faces of the guests. His grandparents and other older people were incredibly upset. © mox44ah / Reddit
The bride and groom decided to take a photo together just after the ceremony and disappeared for five hours! We waited at the venue and, as no one heard anything from them, the buffet wouldn’t start up and the DJ wouldn’t play any music either. After two hours, most of the guests decided to save their money and tell the organizer to open the buffet and let the DJ play music. That’s how the party started without the couple. When they finally arrived, they were surprised that we had eaten most of the buffet and that people were happy and dancing. We almost forgot that it was their wedding. This is how the wedding was not ruined, but the bride and groom missed the ceremony. We, the guests, had a great time! © DrPCox85 / Reddit
Not totally ruined, just a little bit. My ex-wife’s grandmother was in her 90s and throughout the ceremony she kept talking about the flowers, saying they needed water. But she wasn’t telling the people next to her quietly, no. She was screaming from the rooftops. She had no control over her own voice nor did she think that what she was saying was inappropriate. She simply thought that flowers needed water. “THEY ARE UGLY”, she screamed. One of the cousins, without saying anything, got up and took her outside in his wheelchair. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” he would scream. We all started laughing and continued with the ceremony. I want to add that she was a very lovely lady, just wanted to give her opinion at a little loud volume. © IvoShandor / Reddit
We went to work at a fancy place as a waiter for a wedding, and a colleague at our company had been divorced for about a year. When we arrived at the wedding hall, he saw his ex-mother-in-law there and other family members beside his ex-wife. Then he realized that he was going to be a waiter at his ex’s wedding and refused to work, but since we were at least 30-40 kilometers from home, it would cost more than 100 reais to take a taxi. So he sat in our van for about seven hours hiding, making sure none of his ex-wife’s family saw him. © improbable_success / Reddit
I ruined my mom’s best friend’s wedding when I was a kid. During the celebration, I was outside playing with other children while the adults were having fun. So, I decided to show off for the little ones and call 190 through the public phone that was located in the ceremony space. I thought that if I didn’t put money in the pay phone, the call wouldn’t go through. But a few moments later, I froze when an employee answered the call. All the other kids stopped thinking what I was doing was cool when they saw my panicked face. I ended the call quickly hoping nothing would happen, and for the next 15 minutes I was very anxious and scared hoping no one had noticed. Unfortunately, a 911 call from a 6-year-old was considered very suspicious and, a moment later, a police car appeared and stopped the party. After a bit of confusion and questions, they realized it was my fault. My mother didn’t know whether to laugh or die of embarrassment that her son had been the cause of all this trouble. I still get chills when I think about that situation and I’m already 34 years old. © Tqhp1 / Reddit
This story is from my own wedding. It rained all day and was very cold. Nobody bothered to turn the lights on, so all the pictures came out blurry or dark. My parents had divorced that same year and my father couldn’t bear to see my mother for the first time after the separation and he didn’t even approach me to take a picture. My husband’s mother didn’t bother to ask for the day off at work to attend the wedding; it seems that money was more important to her than us. © Canthelpmyself19 / Reddit
I can’t say that I spoiled the ceremony because the bride and groom didn’t realize it. But I went to a friend’s wedding in August and I was one of the bridesmaids. It wasn’t a very big wedding, there were about 30 people or so. We were fed all day and it was mid-August in the southern United States; then at 5:30 pm it was over 30°C. I passed out from the heat in the middle…
