You can confess: you’re already tired of virtual training, right? This trend, which has been appearing as one of the main ones for the last 3 years, is finally going to give a truce, according to the 2023 fitness trends report, released by PureGym.

The survey once again revealed its predictions about the fitness trends set to conquer this new year, analyzing monthly Google searches for over 120 different fitness trends. The report compared searches with previous years to see what people are looking for more and less.

THE FITNESS TREND COMES FIRST:
12-3-30

O training 12-3-30 tops the podium as fitness trends for 2023 saw the biggest increase in searches, with a whopping 309% increase in interest year-over-year.

The workout technique went viral on TikTok in early 2022 when the creator Lauren Giraldo revealed that she puts her treadmill in these conditions:

12% incline speed 3 miles (about 4.8 km) per hour duration 30 minutes

Walking is already a fantastic cardiovascular activity, and adding the incline creates a greater increase in heart rate — improving cardiovascular health and endurance.

This workout is also much gentler on your joints than running, making it an excellent choice for different age groups and fitness levels.

THE FITNESS TREND IN SECOND PLACE:
crossfit

Yeah, he won’t be left behind this year. With an impressive 173.21% increase in interest, CrossFit was ranked as the second fastest growing fitness trend, thanks to a recent resurgence in popularity.

THE FITNESS TREND IN THIRD PLACE:
Twerking

The interest grew 125% compared to last year, which shows that exercising to loosen up the body — and especially the butt — will continue to be on the rise.

Success in the United States since 2006, when Beyonce used the term in a song in the chorus of Check on It, the style is gaining more and more fans. This is a class to loosen the pelvis, with movements like rolling over.

Curiosity: the term ‘twerk’ is the junction of the words twist and jerk (the first means spin; and the second can be translated as ‘skill’ or ‘trick’). In practice, dancing puts you to move your hips and do countless squats.

THE OTHER PLACES

Elsewhere, the top 20 includes a few more niche training trends, such as Everesting (+83.33%) — a trend in which cyclists and runners shape their workouts so that they go up and down in equal amounts until they’ve ‘climbed’ ‘ the distance from the highest mountain in the world.

More traditional practices will also boom this year, with Pilates growing 83.60% year-on-year and yoga 49.72%.

Overall, the top 20 fitness trends with the most growing interest are as follows:

BUMBUM UP

Like last year’s PureGym discoveries, the popularity of glute exercises continues with interest growing year on year (+22%). This crowns the glutes as the body part global fitness fans are most interested in building, followed by the shoulders and calves.

Already, having a sculpted abs appears to be in less focus as a fitness trend for 2023, with an 18% drop in interest from last year.

GOODBYE, VIRTUAL TRAININGS

For every new trend that appears, an old trend must disappear.

The world of virtual fitness continues to lose popular interest as we move away from the pandemic, with virtual fitness challenges (-45.76%), outdoor personal trainers (-45.45%) and home fitness classes (-45.45%) -45.45%) all with the biggest drops in interest.
