15 Cartoons made by Brazilians for you to have fun and marathon with the kids

This Brazilian animation, which was created by American astronaut Neil Armstrong, began airing on TV Brasil in October 2017 and is available on Amazon Prime Video. They are short drawings, just over 10 minutes, in a total of 13 episodes.

The plot revolves around Astrobaldo, a 5-year-old boy full of imagination and a lot of fun, who lives several adventures imagining he is in outer space. His dream is to be an astronaut and he uses every childish fantasy to discover the world around him. The cartoon talks about friendship, equality and also warns against bullying.

2. Yellow Woodpecker Site

This cartoon was developed by the production company “Mixer” and is based on the books by Monteiro Lobato. It aired in January 2012 on Rede Globo; in April of the same year on Cartoon Network; and, in 2015, on the Boomerang channel. There are 3 seasons, with more than 70 episodes of 10 minutes each.

To adapt to the standards of free classification, some scenes were modified in relation to the book and, therefore, does not have any type of violence. The animated series, as well as the TV series, has episodes that tell the adventures and antics of the Sítio gang: Emília, Visconde de Sabugosa, Narizinho, Pedrinho, Dona Benta, Rabicó, Cuca, among others.

3. Where does it come from?

This cartoon series was produced by TV PinGuim for TV Escola in 2001, and was broadcast on other broadcasters such as Canal Futura, TV Cultura and Canal Viva. The show had 20 episodes of just 4 minutes each. The authors mix 2D animation with live-action scenes, that is, they use real scenarios where they insert the cartoon.

Kika is a 5-year-old girl who is in the question phase, and her desire to understand the world is the central theme of the animation. The protagonist is curious about everything around her and each episode is a different subject. In the end, our little friend tells what she learned that day and the drawing ends with the catchphrase: “Kika, where did so much wisdom come from?” And she replies, “If I tell you, you won’t believe it.”

4. Anabel

Anabel is an animation made in Brazil aimed at children and teenagers. Launched in 2005 by Nickelodeon Brasil, it was later broadcast by TV Rá-Tim-Bum and TV Brasil. The animation has 23 episodes of 7 to 10 minutes each, spread over two seasons. In 2010, it was made using flash animation technology.

The cartoon is set in the 1930s, and the protagonist is a lonely girl who is very fond of reading mystery and horror books, such as the classic works of Edgar Allan Poe. She has breathtaking adventures with her friend Ulysses, who is very troublesome; with Theo, the magical crow, who is also her means of transport; with Inspector Crab; and with her parents who never believe what she says.

5. Fishtronaut

Fishtronaut is a Brazilian-Canadian-American animation, developed by TV PinGuim, with 104 episodes that last just over 10 minutes each, spread over 2 seasons. The character, created by designer and director Kiko Mistrorigo and producer Célia Catunda, was even turned into a movie and is available on Netflix.

The main character is a fish who is a secret agent of the Secret Organization for Total Environmental Recovery (OSTRA) and wears a diving suit made especially for him to venture into the “dry world”. Our friend leaves his wet world to adventure with his companions: Marina, who is a very curious girl, and Zico, who is a smart monkey.

6. Professor Ambrose’s Crazy Mansion

Brazilian cartoon created by Nelson Botter Jr., premiered in October 2010 on TV Rá-Tim-Bum channel and was later shown on TV Cultura, ZooMoo, TV Brasil and Disney XD. The fourth season is in production and the animation already has more than 60 episodes.

The mansion is a place full of magic, which stimulates children’s imagination, always through stories that mix science and culture, with Professor Ambrósio and his nephews as protagonists. In one episode, the animation uses references from the Harry Potter saga, when a wizard named Harry appears, who has a wand. In another episode, the Professor appears in a game similar to Super Mario Bros.

7. Jorel’s brother

Jorel’s Brother is a Brazilian cartoon, created by comic book artist and humorist Juliano Enrico, based on the author’s childhood. The animated series premiered in September 2014, has 3 seasons, 78 episodes and is broadcast on TV Cultura, Cartoon Network and Netflix. The cartoon won a contest (pitching) organized by the Brazilian Cartoon Network in the late 2000s.

The protagonist is the youngest of a typical Brazilian family from the 1980s, who live many adventures. The boy lives with his grandparents — the lovely Juju, and Gigi who is a Steve Magal fan — his parents Danuza and Edson, the older brother Nico who is lazy, his smart friend Lara, and Jorel, the middle brother who has beautiful highlights and enchants the girls at school.

8. Haunted Stories (for Naughty Children)

The Brazilian animation, produced by Glaz Entretenimento and Copa Studio, is based on a homonymous film that is available on Netflix. The series began airing internationally after being purchased by Canadian production company 9 Story Entertainment. It was the most watched cartoon on pay TV by children and is currently shown in Brazil by the Cartoon Network channel.

The protagonist Pepe is an 11-year-old boy, insolent and loose. Orphaned, he was raised by his adoptive grandmother, who found him lost when he was still a baby. He makes deliveries of the spells made by her, who is a witch. In the plot, Pepe makes great discoveries with his friends, and faces various supernatural creatures.

9. Luna’s Show

The animation has 3 seasons with 52 episodes of 15 minutes each and was released in mid-2014 on the Discovery Kids channel. The design is a Brazilian and American production conceived and directed by Lauren Faust. Luna’s show was even nominated for the 2016 International Emmy Kids Awards.

The protagonist is a 6-year-old girl who keeps asking a thousand questions, wanting to understand everything around her. She understands that the world is a place to be unraveled and her favorite phrase is: “What is happening here?” She explores the world with her quests, alongside her brother Jupiter and their pet ferret named Clyde.

10. Papaya Bull

Papaya Bull is an animated series by Nickelodeon, with 26 episodes in just one season, which premiered on Nickelodeon Brazil in October 2017. The authors of the cartoon live in the city of Florianópolis, in Santa Catarina, and said they were inspired by the culture and tradition of the so-called papaya ox.

The animation was based on local culture and uses names from folklore to name the characters. She focuses on the tradition of giving a protective ox to every baby born on the island, in order for the two to be friends for life. The protagonist, Cacupé, appears in a mysterious way in Papaya and is the only child who did not get a pet ox, until Socrates the ox appears in his life and the two live great adventures.

11. Dino Adventures

Dino Aventuras is a 3D cartoon, aimed at preschool children, created by illustrator André Forni. The plot has 2 seasons with 53 episodes of 7 minutes each and premiered in April 2015, on Disney Junior and Disney Channel.

The story tells of the adventures of friends Dino, Lip, Kika and Cacau, who travel through the sky of a magical universe with beautiful floating islands, aboard the flying boat Atlas. At the beginning of each episode, the messenger bird, called Volante, brings hints of new adventures. The character Dino was created by food brand Danone and was provided for the animated series.

12. The (Sur)real World of Any Malu

This animation is available on YouTube and also on Cartoon Network. The videos started to be available on the video sharing platform YouTube in October 2015, and on Cartoon Network in March 2019. The series already has 111 episodes in 5 seasons.

The story is about the adventures of the girl Any, a young youtuber who lives great adventures with her friends Ágatha, Willen, Kotoko, Dona Nina and Rebecca. Any Malu is smiling, communicative, funny and down to earth. Tromba Trem is a Brazilian cartoon that premiered in April 2011 and was created by director Zé Brandão. Lilica, Coala was conceived by a children’s clothing brand, with the aim of winning over children with something fun and playful. Episodes are available on the YouTube video platform and on the animation’s official website. On the website, there are videos, games, music clips, as well as drawings for children to print and have fun coloring the characters in the class.

Babs and her friend Donna live in a world of fun, dream, play and fantasy. In each episode, they help children understand values ​​such as respect for others, empathy and teamwork. The settings of Mundo Ripilica are the Araucaria Forest and Vila dos Guidos, where several fantastic beings live that help children learn by playing.
