15 Actors Who Could Have Starred in the “Twilight” Saga Movies

It’s hard to imagine the Twilight Saga movies with other actors. It seems impossible that Edward and Bella could be played by anyone other than the iconic Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. But Twilight could have an entirely different cast, including Jennifer Lawrence, Henry Cavill and Channing Tatum.

Jennifer Lawrence could have become our Bella Swan if she had gotten the role after her audition.

Stephenie Meyer saw Henry Cavill as the “perfect” Edward. “The only actor I think could come close to displacing Edward Cullen is Henry Cavill,” Meyer said.

Charlie Hunnam was also on Stephenie Meyer’s wish list after seeing him in The Family Hero. “He was practically Carlisle in that movie,” the author said. However, Charlie Hunnam had no interest in acting in productions involving vampire stories.

Ashley Green was amazing in the role of Alice, but this character could have been played by Lucy Hale. She also auditioned to play Jane, a role that ultimately went to Dakota Fanning.

Stephenie Meyer suggested Tyler Posey as one of Jacob’s possible interpreters. The actor even auditioned for the role. Interestingly, Tyler later played a werewolf in the Teen Wolf TV series.

Michelle Trachtenberg was considered for the role of Bella Swan, but it was not possible for the actress, probably due to scheduling problems.

Vanessa Hudgens was a fan of Stephanie Meyer’s books and hoped to land the role of Leah Clearwater. Even Ashley Greene said that Vanessa would be great as Leah, but Julia Jones got the character.

John C. Reilly was at the top of Stephenie Meyer’s list of possible names for the role of Bella’s father, although she admitted that they were unlikely to get it.

When Dave Franco auditioned for the role of Edward Cullen, he didn’t think he would make it. “In that sense, I still didn’t know what I was doing, that is, I was lost,” Franco said.

Ben Barnes was among the four finalists for the role of Edward. Ben commented that he probably wasn’t cast because he was too old to play a 17-year-old boy, and because, in the producers’ view, they didn’t want to mix Twilight with The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

Tom Felton never auditioned for Twilight, but his fans really wanted to see him as Riley Biers and kept asking him if he would join the cast.

Scott Eastwood auditioned for the role of Edward Cullen, but didn’t do very well. Probably because he didn’t try so hard, in his own words, as he wasn’t interested in acting in a young adult film. However, he appears to have regretted it later, as he realized the production had turned into a multi-million dollar franchise.
