I had an assistant who wanted my position so much that he tried in every way to conspire to get me fired. I found out about this through some colleagues, who told me that he was convincing everyone to side with him in this endeavor. Eventually, I was demoted, but I asked to work the shift after him. After this “colleague” gave me his shift over the phone a few times (which was against the rules), one day I went to work four hours early on purpose and he was nowhere to be found. And yet I got a call from him when it was time to hand over his shift, like he was at work. I told security, who recorded everything and then he was fired. © charlie2135 / Reddit There was an employee, in her 50s, who was never guilty of anything. She didn’t take even kindly constructive criticism, and complained about everything all the time. One of my best friends at work often ended up getting the blame, and because the woman never took responsibility, she kept making the same mistakes and never learning how to fix them. One day, my friend went in her car to get some medicine, and this other troublesome employee went to the manager to say that she had gone to get a gun to hurt her. And my colleague still ended up getting fired. I was shocked! © ItsAnEagleNotARaven / Reddit Worked in the ICU. I couldn’t go home unless I gave my reports to the next shift worker in person at the end of the shift. And there was one employee in particular who loved to be late. Not 5-10 minutes. But rather 25-30 minutes. And it gets even better: she loved to complain about being charged for being late. Now the icing on the cake: this employee lives literally 5 minutes walk from work. No one understands how late she is always. © kandnm115709 / Reddit
Some 50-something bastard who was the owner’s son. This spoiled guy constantly reminded me of what would happen to me if I confronted him. But it really got creepy when he, a man who almost never complimented other women, said that my legs looked great. I was in a skirt. That was the last time I wore this garment to work for a long time. I immediately started looking for a new job. © soaringcats / Reddit On her first day on the job, an employee set her desk on fire. On the second day, after eating lunch, she developed hives. On the third day, she arrived at work and sat on a bench until one of us went over to find out what had gone wrong with her. She said she hurt her back trying to lift her bag and even forced one of our colleagues to carry her home. He also wouldn’t let us use the same microwave as her because she was “allergic to garlic.” The list of oddities grew and grew until she was fired. Oh, Marian, I wonder where you are now. © Get_AfterIt / Reddit I work with a lady who is morally harassing other women, especially if they are younger and more educated than her. She always tries to discourage them from continuing to study and constantly threatens the employees that they are at risk of being fired. Her behavior is a real nightmare. © adoptdontshop1 / Reddit
I worked at a technology company on the team responsible for digital marketing. My manager had a very broad understanding of how our various technology platforms worked. Once, we were posting a video on our brand’s YouTube channel and she commented to me, “I don’t see it feeling on the Internet”. And she was serious. That was in 2014 and she ended up getting fired. © Robearsn / Reddit I once mentioned to a co-worker that my mom was hand making my future wife’s wedding dress. Most people’s reaction was to say “How cute”, but this colleague said: “Couldn’t you buy something decent?” © lankymjc / Reddit
There was a woman who hated me and always wanted to be better than me at everything. It was terrible. It was the first time I cried at work. One time, I had taken a day off, and when I got back, she said that my boss had been asking questions about where I had been. Except my boss knew exactly where I was, so I figured that was her lie and that she was just being nosy. I confronted her, but she got no response, she started crying and saying how cruel I was to her. It was very gratifying to see her get caught in the lie by my boss after years of lying and manipulating my other co-workers. © fridayj1 / Reddit A colleague told our boss that she really wanted to come over to my apartment and go through all my stuff because she was sure it was so cool. I soon found out that she had moved into the apartment next door. She would buy things and send them to my house only to have me take them to hers and knock on her door. © Rowwie / Reddit One day, my manager rewarded our work with milkshakes for everyone. I was so happy and couldn’t wait to drink mine, but I had a delivery to make (I work at a pizzeria) before I could have it. So I wrote my name on the glass and put it in the fridge. When I came back I saw my colleague drinking my milkshake. And he finished taking it looking straight into my eyes. © KingStowey / Reddit
A colleague never does his job right, but loves to tell me how to do mine. © PetronyaVandor / Reddit A colleague tried to outdo me at literally everything because I was voted “employee of the month”. She didn’t care about the quality of work or service she did, she just wanted to do everything she could to get some recognition. The woman would do basic things and ask “Where is my prize? When will I be employee of the month?” © CakeDay_CTFU / Reddit I work in sales and I’m very good at what I do. I worked really hard to be good at it and now I’m in a leadership position. A co-worker (who was just an intern) told me on the first day, after seeing me sell out a lot when things weren’t working out for him: “You’re only good because you’re a woman”. © dutch_horse_girl05 / Reddit
