The worlds of music and cinema are, in a way, complementary. It is common for actors to appear in music videos and, on the other hand, for music stars to take risks on screen. There are famous cases, such as those of actors Jonny Depp, who owns the band hollywood vampires — which features none other than Alice Cooper and Joe Perry (Aerosmith) —, and Jared Leto, with the band Thirty Seconds to Mars.
In this post, the awesome.club compiled a list that shows the opposite: famous music artists who have appeared in films and TV series.
1. Prince — new girl
Prince is considered to this day one of the great geniuses of contemporary music. Although he was somewhat resistant to watching television shows, in 2014 he starred in an episode of the series new girl titled, precisely, “Prince”. The star did not play any role, but himself. The Kardashian sisters would also participate in the episode, but, apparently, the idol was opposed, which meant that the girls – at the time, much less famous – were left out.
2. Sigur Ros — game of Thrones
Sigur Rós is an Icelandic band that was initially successful in the alternative universe, later becoming a more “mainstream” group. 6. David Bowie — Extras
While Bowie will forever be remembered for his incredible music career, that’s not to say he did poorly on film. The “rock chameleon” was also a highly respected actor. He has played lead and supporting roles in many films. He has also participated as an actor in stage plays and, on many occasions, his acting talent has received critical acclaim. Here we will highlight his participation in the television series Extras🇧🇷 It is necessary to clarify that on that occasion, the star did not play a character, but played the “role of himself”, having even made jokes about his own career.
7. Steven Tyler — Two And a Half Man
The lead singer of the band Aerosmith and father of actress Liv Tyler participated in more than 10 films, both playing himself and in the role of some characters. And we can say that he did very well. the tv series Two And a Half Man 🇧🇷 Two and a half Men featured Tyler in two episodes, in which he played himself.
8. Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran is one of the greatest pop idols today. Since releasing his first album in 2011, he has been gaining more and more fans. This fame led to the production of game of Thrones to invite him to make a special appearance in one of the episodes and Ed, of course, accepted. His appearance was brief, to the point where his character didn’t even have a name. And the star did what he does best: sing.
However, his appearance sparked some controversy among fans of the series. They argued that seeing a “real-life” face — in this case, Ed Sheeran — took some of the magic out of the fantasy series.
9. Eminem — Entourage: Fame & Friendship
Entourage: Fame & Friendship it was a comedy series drama aimed at young audiences that ran for eight seasons, from 2004 to 2011. One of the most celebrated features by fans of the show was the appearances of famous actors and musicians. Rapper Eminem, for example, participated in the final chapter of the seventh season, playing himself. The episode, incidentally, had the participation of many other stars and stars of music and cinema.
10. Christina Aguilera — Entourage: Fame & Friendship
As we’ve said before, Eminem wasn’t the only music star to make a cameo in the season 7 finale of The Entourage🇧🇷 Christina Aguilera was also present and, like the rapper, had no role, but played herself, singing the song. You Lost Me in a special version for the series, accompanied only by a piano.
11. Lady Gaga — Gossip Girl — The blog Girl
Lady Gaga’s participation was different from previous musicians. She even declared that she saw no sense in the way music stars used to participate in films and series. So she agreed to participate in gossip Girl, but on the condition that he would meet with the writers and effectively work on his performance in the episode in which he would participate. And the result was surprising. It is possible that this participation paved the way for his surprising performance in A Star Is Born, years later.

So much so that the singer received the People’s Choice Award in the category Best Guest Actress in a Series.
14. Miley Cyrus — Two And a Half Man
Though Miley Cyrus rose to fame with the series hannah montana (which lasted five years, from 2006 to 2011), the truth is that her career really took off when she started dedicating herself to music. In 2012, Miley participated in Two and a Half Menplaying a direct and sexy girl who drove the protagonists’ household crazy with her intense personality.
