14 Capybaras So Cute They Should Be Pets

Animals never cease to amaze us and capybaras are no exception. Scattered not only in Brazil, but throughout South America (with names like carpincho or cachapu), these adorable creatures can be very friendly and become real pets.

O awesome.club loves animals, which is why I want to share some photos and information about these rodents that will make them win your heart.

1. It is a very sociable animal and even gets along well with dogs, cats and birds.

2. The anacondas, jaguars and alligators are their biggest predators

3. They are not aggressive unless they feel threatened, like any other animal.

4. They live in groups of up to 100 specimens and produce many sounds (barking like dogs is one of them)

5. Can be tamed, so like to be trained and comfortable with other pets

6. They are the biggest rodents in the world. They can measure from 106 to 134 cm and weigh between 30 and 60 kilos.

7. They are also known as “water pigs” because of their size and because they love to swim. They hold their breath for up to 5 minutes and can sleep in the water with their nose out.

8. Their digestive system allows them to eat their droppings to get all the nutrients from the plants they consume

9. They are herbivorous animals and eat almost all types of shrubs. They can ingest about 3 kilos of grass and aquatic plants

10. In some native villages of South America, each newborn is believed to have a protective capybara that gives it life force.

11. The rainy season is perfect for mating. Pregnancies last around 110 days and they usually have 4 pups.

12. Their meat is considered very nutritious; therefore, they are hunted. As a result of this practice, its population declined throughout South America.

13. They live in lakes, rivers and mangroves in Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Guyana, Peru, Uruguay and, of course, Brazil
