13 signs that a remake of “O Rei do Gado” could be as good as “Pantanal”

The good audience numbers of the new version of the telenovela Pantanal show that this type of remake has been a success with the Brazilian public. This nostalgic touch, combined with a new plot look, seems to have pleased novelists of all ages and won the hearts of those who love that older way of telling stories.

In the initial plot, the young actor played the adventurer Marcos, heir to Bruno Mezenga, a young man who at the time made many viewers sigh.

Guiseppe Berdinazi was an Italian who lived at odds with his neighbor Mezenga, he was Marieta’s husband and the father of four children. The brilliant actor Jackson Antunes could play the character in a new version, which in the original was the idealistic leader Regino. A strong character that only a renowned performer could match.

Some episodes worthy of the painting “Falha Nossa” were starred by the already renowned actor Carlos Vereza. In one scene, with the character Roberto Caxias, we caught a continuity error. Most of the time, he appears with glasses, but at one point in the plot, he takes turns wearing two glasses. In another part of the soap opera, the actor would have to lie down and end up sleeping on the scene, and had to be woken up by the production.

In the second part of the plot, Bruno Mezenga is a cattleman who conquered his farms with hard work and sweat. However, the breeding he had at the time was of the traditional type and a remake could change this perspective on how to deal with cattle culture. Lower your face a little, Fábio”. In a remake, considering all the technology we have today, this little mistake would hardly make it to the air.

The violists were supposed to be supporting characters, but ended up having so much projection due to the way they captivated the public, that most soap opera fans still remember the two. If there was a remake of the plot, a good choice would be to replace the two with a well-known duo of famous singers of the genre like Simone and Simaria. A good choice, don’t you think?

In a new version, we can imagine a female protagonist, with a strong personality, playing the role of the rancher in the plot. A well-known name, considering the successful history of the actress, was the talented Gloria Pires. In the first edition of the soap opera, she played the young Marieta, a girl who appeared in a “mysterious way” and claimed to be the heiress of the wealthy landowner Geremias Berdinazi.

Many fans of the soap opera may have noticed that the character Luana, played by Patricia Pillar, repeatedly wore the same outfit when she arrived at Bruno Mezenga’s farm. After the two started bonding, he got her a new dress. However, once again we saw the character wearing only the new clothes with great frequency. In a remake, it would be interesting to increase the number of costumes for one of the main actresses in the plot, no?

It seems that the repetition problem did not only happen with the main character, but also with the supporting ones. An example was that of Roberto Caxias’ wife, Ana Rosa, who visited her husband on a certain occasion in the soap opera and stayed there for a few days. Those who remember the scenes remember that she wore a beautiful red dress, but she did not change her clothes at any time during the several days she stayed there.

Despite the brilliant actress Silvia Pfeiffer always looking chic and impeccably dressed to play Léia, the wife of Bruno Mezenga and mother of Lia and Marcos, the production ended up sinning when it provided sunglasses for the girl to use in a night scene. She put the completely expendable accessory on her face before leaving the house and even removed it to answer the phone, why is that? Where is the costume designer for this soap opera?

The brilliant actor Antonio Fagundes was responsible in this soap opera for no less than two main characters: Antônio Mezenga (grandfather) and Bruno Mezenga (grandson). A curious fact was that to make the first part of the plot, the actor had to gain a few pounds and, in a very short time, he had to lose weight to play the role of Bruno, in the second phase.
