13 Logos That Almost Nobody Knows Meaning

A logo is the face of a company. Just by looking at a familiar symbol, we unconsciously associate it with certain products or services and form a mental image, in some cases positive, in others, negative.

That’s why designers are especially careful when creating, looking for something that is not only simple and memorable, but also has a certain different connotation.

O awesome.club shows the secrets behind the logos of well-known brands around the world.

1. Airbnb

Airbnb’s internet service, which specializes in renting houses, apartments all over the world, chose a very strange logo to represent it, similar to a clip. However, the emblem has a much deeper meaning than it first appears. 2. TripAdvisor

The American website TripAdvisor allows travelers from all over the world to choose which hotel to stay in, which restaurant to eat at, which airline to use and even which tourist attractions to visit, all thanks to the comments of other users. Its logo is shaped like an owl, which represents wisdom and knowledge, but its eyes symbolize the choice made by the traveler. Green indicates that it is worth following and red refers to the opposite.

3. MasterCard

4. Dell

American computer company Dell highlighted the letter E in its logo for a reason. The founder of the corporation, Michael Dell, wanted to convey the meaning of the popular expression “turn the world on its ear”, which means something like “doing something in a different and innovative way”.

5. National Geographic

National Geographic, which is present in 171 countries around the world, has a yellow rectangle as its logo. The figure symbolizes a door that opens to the world of knowledge about nature, science and culture. The color wasn’t chosen accidentally either; it is a metaphor for the sun, which lights up the whole world and is a source of strength and energy.

6. Vodafone

The British mobile phone company chose to use a mysterious hook as a logo, which resembles a headphone jack. But actually they are quotes. In this case, the open quotes symbolize the beginning of a conversation. Therefore, the designers wanted to show that with Vodafone, users can literally chat all the time.

7. Haribo

Candy maker Haribo is known for its gummy bears that both kids and adults love. The company name came from the founder himself. He combined the first two letters of his first and last name (Hans Riegel), adding the first two letters of the name of his hometown of Bonn, Germany. Initially, Hans sold candy at a fair, where it was common to see performances of real bears dancing. Inspired by this, he decided to create the candies in the shape of this animal.

8. GAZ

9. Subway

The arrows in the first and last letters of the fast food chain’s logo exist for a reason: they represent the entrance and exit to the subway. Green symbolizes support for a healthy diet by offering products corresponding to it, and yellow indicates the joy one gets from life, optimism and fun.

10. DC Comics

The renowned comic book company rebranded in 2016 and changed its logo. Fans were outraged and demanded the return of the old, familiar emblem. However, they had no idea how much was hidden behind that blue inscription. 11. Mozilla Firefox

The famous navigator’s logo has a fox hugging the Planet. What if we say it actually represents a red panda? The fact is that most people literally translate the word “firefox” from English as “fire fox”, but actually “firefox” is an English translation of the Chinese nickname of the red panda.

In this way, the company wanted to demonstrate its uniqueness, as this type of animal is very rare and in danger of extinction. In 2010, the US branch of Mozilla Firefox even took in 2 pandas and took responsibility for their lives.

12. Bacardi

The rum producer didn’t want to scare off his customers with his logo. There is a legend that the company, for a long time, could not create an emblem for its products, but one day, the founder’s wife saw a bat in the distillery. The woman considered it to be the sign of heaven and decided that this animal should be represented in the logo. In addition, in Cuba, the place of origin of this drink, this animal is considered a symbol of health, luck and union.
