13 group game ideas to scare away the boredom of your little party

Have you ever been to a friend’s party where everyone was in the corners, in groups, just using their cell phones? Have you ever had a family meeting on Sunday and everyone was around the TV after lunch? Or even, have you ever been bored at home, looking at your partner, with nothing to do?

If you have already lived through these situations and would like to make a difference, it would be interesting to have a good repertoire of games and games that can involve and amuse everyone. Or even that they can be played in pairs, at home on a rainy day, for example.

1.

To play on: two people or more.

You will need: several nuts and a barbecue stick or skewer for each player.

How to play: 1. Divide the nuts into equal amounts for each player. Each must place all the nuts on their rod. 2. The first player must place a nut upright on the table, without touching it. The second must place one of his nuts on top of the one on the table. The first place one more and so on, forming a tower of nuts. 3. The player who cannot place his nut without knocking down the tower loses.

To play on: two people or more.

You will need: at least 20 empty soda cans and several rubber bands (linguinhas).

How to play: 1. Separate participants into teams. 2. Make two piles of cans, one for each team, each pile with ten cans. 3. Distribute the rubber bands among the teams. 4. Each team can switch between players to stretch the rubber bands and release to hit their stack of cans. 5. The team that knocks down all their cans first wins.

To play on: two people or more.

You will need: a packet of crackers (or cookies).

How to play: 1. Each player must look up, tilting their head well back, and place a cookie on their forehead, between their eyes. 2. The objective of the game is to take the cookie to the mouth, without using your hands, just moving the muscles of the face and moving the head. 3. If you drop the cookie on the floor, pick up another one and go back to the beginning, placing it on your forehead again. 4. Whoever manages to eat the cookie first wins.

To play on: two people or more.

You will need: ten soda cans and ten large disposable cups that fit the cans inside.

How to play: 1. Divide participants into teams and distribute five cans and five cups to each. 2. Place the cans side by side and the cups standing on top of them. 3. The game consists of flicking the base of the glass, from bottom to top, so that they come up in the air and fall covering the can.
Note: It is best to use full cans in this game. If yours aren’t, put some water in, just to make weight. 4. The team that first covers all the cans with their cups wins the game.

To play on: two people.

You will need: Paper and pen.

How to play: 1. On a sheet of paper, make dots forming a grid. The bigger the grid, the longer the game. 2. The object of the game is to form squares. 3. The two players must, each in turn, connect two points, forming a straight line. 4. Each time a player forms a square, he must place the initial of his name inside it and play again. 5. The game continues until there are no more dots left to connect. Whoever has the most squares with their initial wins.

To play on: One person or more.

You will need: a fork and some coins.

How to play: 1. Place the fork on the floor, with the tines facing you. 2. Position yourself about three steps away from the fork, with the coins. 3. Roll the coins towards the fork, trying to get them to fit between your teeth and stay there. 4. If you’re playing with someone, whoever can do it the most times wins.

To play on: two people or more.

You will need: 20 disposable cups and several ping pong balls (table tennis).

How to play: 1. Half fill the glasses with water and place them on the edge of a table like bowling pins. 2. At the other end of the table, there are the teams with their marbles. 3. Each team must try to hit the marbles inside the cups, but for that, they must drop the marble on the table first. It’s not worth throwing straight into the cups. 4. If you run out of marbles, pick up the ones on the floor and continue playing. Or remove from cups that have more than one ball. 5. There are two ways to win the game, teams must agree before which one will be used: a) The team that first manages to hit all the balls inside the cups wins (even if some cup runs out of balls); b) The team that first manages to hit at least one ball in each cup wins.

How to play: 1. The two players face each other. 2. One of them should, with his hand in front of the other’s face, point in various directions: to the right, left, down or up. 3. The other player must always look in the opposite direction. If you miss and look in the same direction as pointed, you lose your turn, and the players switch places. 4. There are no winners. You can play until you get tired.

You will need: two basins of water, two plastic plates or plastic lids and at least ten empty cans.

How to play: 1. Divide materials among teams. 2. Place the dishes inside the basins with water, so that they are floating. 3. Teams must stack cans on floating plates. 4. The team that manages to make the biggest tower of cans wins.

To play on: two people.

You will need: graph paper, two pens of different colors and two dice.

How to play: 1. Draw a picture on paper, no matter the size. 2. Each player, in turn, must roll the dice. Then you must draw a picture with your pen, according to the numbers drawn on the dice. In the example above, one die is 2, and the other is 3, so your board should be 2 squares wide and 3 squares high. Inside the drawn board, write the number of squares used — in this case, 6. 3. The opponent does the same, rolling the dice and drawing with his different colored pen. 4. When the entire board is filled, each player adds up how many squares they have filled with their color. 5. The one with the highest sum wins.

To play on: One person or more.

You will need: one closed can for each participant.

How to play: 1. The objective of this game is to balance the can diagonally. 2. For this, open your drink and drink slowly and trying to balance, until you get it. 3. Everyone who gets it is a winner, but whoever gets it first will certainly be the best!

You will need: paper and pen to make the board. Two pairs of bottle caps, each pair one color. Buttons, stones, pen caps, game pins, anything can also be used.

How to play: 1. Draw the board as shown in the first image. 2. Position the parts according to the second image. 3. Each player must, in turn, move his piece to the empty square. There will always be only one house available. 4. One should only walk along the lines. The empty space at the bottom of the board must not be used. 5. The object of the game is to corner the opponent so that he can no longer move. In the example above, green has cornered yellow.

Curiosity: the name of this game is Pong Hau Ki, it came from China and is known as the Tic-Toe Game of that country. However, unlike Jogo da Velha, in this one there is no tie.

How to play: 1. Distribute the disposable cups in equal amounts to the participants. 2. Each participant must place the glass upside down on the edge of the table, taking care to leave a part of the base out. 3. Next, flick upwards, trying to turn the glass upside down. 4. Whoever turns all their glasses first wins.
